is that a match to UAB IM? That is a top tier program, I don't know if they have taken DO's before.
If that's true, MeatTornado is going to have kittens.

Also, MeatTornado doesn't even go to a middle tier IM program so he literally has no say in anything. That kid is garbage
It's not elite, it's just in NYC and doesn't like DO applicants. There are a ton of places like that up hereI think he's mentioned that he goes to a place that isn't receptive to DO applicants, which in that case I bet is somewhere elite

1. You're wrong and have no clue what you're talking about
2. Are the MODS asleep or do the forum rules just not apply equally across the board? I guarantee you this guy would've been banned for talking this way to anyone else. Get it together or this board will just be a discussion among a bunch of uninformed pre-meds.
I do know what I'm talking about. I live up in NYC and have rotated at almost every hospital worth rotating at. I am quite aware of the good programs and I am also very aware of the DO bias at many of the hospitals and their programs up here.
…I'm not at some crappy community hospital in nyc as you, for some odd reason, seem to be assuming. If a DO matched at my program it would certainly be called "top tier" in this thread from what I've seen though in the grand scheme of things it isn't. Just different barometers I guess.
I still think you should be banned for the multiple terms violations in the posts I quoted previously.
LECOM Bradenton anyone?
Touro Nevada or Touro CA?
Which match lists are we still looking forward to seeing on here?

Hmm well for how much pre-meds on here spout about how much more valuable CCOM is (and is worth the outrageous tuition), they seem to match just about the same as most other decent DO schools.CCOM match list

Nailed itI've come to one basic conclusion watching this thread unfold and that is that more selective schools tend to have more competitive candidates who (on average) tend to match better. It seems that the school makes little to no difference other than helping geographically. Some schools have relationships with nearby MD schools, but other than that, you're going only as far as your ability and desire will take you.

Sometimes I wonder if MT's high school bully later went to PCOM or something...
Anesthesia matches at Ann Arbor and pritzker seem very impressive for ccom. Wayne state gen surg match is also impressive (any acgme university GS match is from a DO is imo)
Wow, more UCI matches. So far, 2 from WU and one 1 from TUCOM matched UCI IM. That GS at UCI is also impressive. Good job guys!
VCOM-CC. Sorry for the crappy formatting. It's the best I can do, organized by specialty A -> Z.

But it's not just about matching, it's not having terrible excuses for "rotations" where you're just following a physician around(seems like the number 1 complaint from every DO student). The original DO schools including CCOM tend to have solid connections with residency programs that students can rotate at. A match list is also not going to tell you how good a physician someone is, it's a limited set of data. The reason these do schools are opening left and right is because these scams of a rotation are allowed to continue. And why shouldn't they? If people keep applying to these schools let them keep opening them up. Medical education for everyone!Nailed it
I would say you tend to not see as many "really impressive" matches from some of the newer or more rural schools (like a ACGME plastics match or rad onc or whatever). But generally speaking, that extra 20k you would pay for CCOM tuition each year is maybe just helping you stick in Chicago or Wisconsin, if thats what you want, thats about it. Your chance of matching Neurosurgery at Hopkins is probably about equal from ANY of the established DO schools (pretty low). At least with this year in particular, none of the "top 10" DO schools have really blown away any other school.
What's up with the Rad Onc PG1. Is that similar to derm in which you have to re apply after the PG1
Also, lot of anesthesia haha. Kinda interesting I suppose

There hasn't been a major decline in the number of applicants to med school since like the 80s. To give you an idea, there are still thousands of Americans starting med school in the Carib every year. I can't imagine a DO program has worse rotations than some of the lower reputation Carib schools.
From the stories I have read on SDN, the worst rotations are the ones that are in private offices with a physician. This is pretty bad IMO. It is not even a step up from some of the caribbean rotations. The only difference is that this is low quality clinical education is being allowed on US soil. We can't solve the whole supply and demand thing. It is what it is, I agree. However, COCA and the new schools should do what they can to ensure quality education from the 1st year to the 4th here in the US.
If I'm being honest, a few of my best rotations from a learning and doing perspective were with PP physicians. OB, HemeOnc, Pediatrics, and FM were all excellent in that setting. But there are (and were) rotations both inpatient and outpatient where it was basically a month of shadowing. Even my IM rotation at one of the local ACGME residency programs was just a glorified shadow month.
Personally I do not, but most of my rotations are at the same hospital. I've got info on my first rotation (what it is but not where or with who) that is not in my hospital. Most here at my school only know 1 or 2 rotations right now. While we're on tangent of rotation quality, I've got a question for my fellow 2nd years at other schools. Do you already have your schedules for 3rd year rotations? As in, do you know in which month and at what hospital/clinic you will be doing each core rotation? If so, when did you find out? If not, when do you expect to find out?

AOA Derm is really the only field where that's how it works, all other advanced positions involve matching a year ahead for a PGY-2 position as well as matching/placing into an internship somewhere. When they match Rad Onc, they mean PGY-2 and are just not mentioning the internship (or the program may have tied internships at the same hospital or something).
