Hey. Does anyone have any tips on learning all the metabolic regulation. I understand more or less everything, but I am having trouble synthesizing all the controls into one mental picture. I use the lippincott book and the notes, but I don't feel like I have a firm grasp of all the material. I know the individual steps more or less, but I want to somehow get the big picture regarding all the controls. i.e.--fed and fasting state, which organs, etc....

In all serious, the secret is to think big picture.

I usualy go something like this...

What is going on?
What needs to happen?
What controls that DIRECTLY?
What triggers that?
Then work backwards on the last two.

Of course, you don't have to work backwards every time. Also, after you do this a few dozen times (practice problems, write them all the way out), you start to conceptualize it better and can manipulate and manage it better.
