I emailed a program director about whether movement disorders is through the SF match and this is what he said:

"Yes but none of the sites including ours uses the central application process. it would have been very costly to applicants so we use SF Match only for selection."

What does this mean?

That means that you have to inquire from each program which application materials they require (CV, personal statement, letters of rec are pretty standard, individual program application forms may differ) and submit the application to each program separately. Unlike the residency interview process there isn't a centralized site to which to upload application documents. The only time you will interact with the matching site (sfmatch) will be to rank the programs you have interviewed at. You should also register at sfmatch now so that you have an applicant number to give to the programs after you interview for the purposes of ranking.

When does one submit applications for movement disorders fellowships (the SF match)? Is it PGY 3 or PGY 4? I understand that there is no central application system.
