I have a question about myelodysplastic and myeloproflierative disorders and their progression to AML--mainly the myeloproliferatives
Correct me if Im wrong. In MDS, you have dysmorphic cells which do not fully mature resulting in pancytopenia If there are additional mutations, cells completely fail to mature and thus you have a rise in blasts --> AML
If i am not right, please correct me.
Then, do myeloproliferative disorders also become AML by acquiring other mutations that will result in increased blasts --> AML?
Or basically, how do you get increased blasts in MDS and MPD to lead to AML?
Thanks,
