Got a nice rejection e-mail from Emory's EPI department today. I wasn't expecting an e-mail from them. At least I have a final decision! In other news, I have my interview with Ohio State this Friday! Anyone have interview tips?
I'm in the same boat as you, my app was forwarded to the department on Nov 14. However, that was a reach school for me so I am pretty sure that I didn't get in. However, I'd still like them to just tell me that rejected me already, its super annoying. but if its the school you really want to go then dont panic !! no news is good news - for now. lolWaiting to hear back from JHU is killing me. Got an email back in mid-November saying that my app was forwarded to my department for review and that I should hear back in 8-10 weeks. This is week 11... COME ON! Anyone else hear anything from them yet?
Nov. 14th was my forward date too! I mean JHU is probably a stretch for me too but I can dream right! No news is good news.... until it drives you to the brink lolI'm in the same boat as you, my app was forwarded to the department on Nov 14. Experience/Research (please, be brief):
I have only applied to Tulane; I appreciate the research done at this institution and the possibilities for public health experience available in New Orleans. I applied through SOPHAS on December 15th and my application was verified on December 23. Tulane acknowledged receipt of my application on January 5. I am currently awaiting an admissions decision.
- Preclinical research experience in an academic lab for women's reproductive health (3 years).
- Data management and data analysis experience (quantitative and qualitative) with various employers (NGO, government, private biopharma, academic research) (6 years).
- I currently work at a large, global public health NGO on various projects including women's reproductive health, vaccine development, and health technologies (2.5 years). I have a broad range of experience (working at a not-for-profit will do that!) from outreach, program implementation/close-out, research, creation of survey tools, etc.
- Volunteer experience in tutoring refugee children in after school programs and; in advocacy and outreach for anti-trafficking legislation (2 years).
Does anyone have an idea of the turn-around on admissions decisions? I emailed Tulane on January 22; still no response. I do realize decisions can take several weeks, but the waiting is killing me!
Applied: Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine

I think you'll be hearing back quite soon if their turnaround rate is anything like it was in November! Good Luck
It was about 4 weeks from when I got a confirmation e-mail from the department. Hang in there! It also depends on the department you applied to. It seems like EPI is much faster. I applied to the MSPH Tropical Medicine/Parasitology concentration and it took a bit longer to hear back from them.

Can I ask what school is everyone's top 1 or 2 preferences? From what I've seen most people are applying to multiple schools so I was curious You all are making me nervous over here seeing how early you turned your apps in! I finished my Peace Corps service right before the deadline so for me it was a rush to get everything done and trying to coordinate everything from another continent was crazy!
Yeah I didnt apply via SOPHAS, i applied directly to Bloomberg.. I still highly doubt I got in tho lol. And i applied to their MHA program. But I have seen that they can take a while to send out decisions.. thanks ! are u there now? What department/degree program did you apply to? The epidemiology department doesn't release decisions until about the end of February and early March. I had to wait about 18 weeks so I know what it feels like (it sucked). It was also a reach for me too given my grades, but you never know with these top schools and what they are looking for. I was forwarded for review on October 10 of last year.
I am getting so anxious. I'm not sure if the fact that I haven't heard yet is a good thing or a bad thing. I keep telling myself that it means they just haven't gotten to my application yet. It has now passed the six week mark since my application was forwarded for review. To those accepted to Emory today: first, congratulations! Well done! Second, when did you get your e-mail stating your files had been forwarded on to your departments? I know, that question. Again. I have only checked OPUS 8 times today, one time resulted in my whole office getting kicked out of the electronic medical records system. I'm super popular today. I just want to knoowwww.

You guys... I was accepted to Emory!! I just got an e-mail saying that I was accepted into the MPH program for Environmental Health and it also explained how competitive the MSPH program was this year. My OPUS was already updated with the rejection letter and everything and then I got this e-mail congratulating me on my acceptance. I was so confused.
Mine too. I just keep telling myself that at least I haven't been rejected yet!I am getting so anxious. I'm not sure if the fact that I haven't heard yet is a good thing or a bad thing. No. They posted their decision on OPUS on 1/8 for me. On the 27th they sent me an e-mail congratulating me and indicated I would be receiving the packet and a gift via FedEx. I haven't received it yet.Has anyone received their admissions packet from Emory yet? I'm paranoid about the reliability of my mail because something Ohio State sent me was returned to them (they scanned it and sent it to me, and they had my correct address). I wish I had used my parents' address. Blah.
I got my e-mail on 12/16 and was accepted 1/8. However, I think 12/16 may have been the first day they sent those e-mails since I applied early. That's speculation though. To those accepted to Emory today: first, congratulations! Well done! Second, when did you get your e-mail stating your files had been forwarded on to your departments? Congrats! that's crazy! Was the Environmental health your next choice after Epi? Also what date did you get the forwarded to department email?
Well from previous threads it seems like Emory will be giving us decisions either this week or next week or next week...(they were mostly sent out end of Jan and by mid feb it stopped last year) So we're all almost there!
Not really sure where I should post this question. So I know that with in emory MPH you can change departments. Has anyone heard of someone switching from MPH to MSPH and what's really the difference. Course wise, it only seems to be 1 class?
I'm not sure which program you're applying to, but for epi there's a good chart: http://www.sph.emory.edu/departments/epi/degree-programs/program-overview/index.htmlNot really sure where I should post this question. Basically, the MSPH requires 7 additional credit hours and requires more research. With the MPH you can do research, but it's not required. The MSPH is a research degree, so it's more of a terminal degree if you want to do research, where the MPH is more of a professional degree and if you want to do research you would go on to a research degree (PhD). It's really your preference, they are very similar.
I did. It was very odd. I didn't apply to the Houston science center, but the Austin campus so I just ignored the email thinking it was a fluke.Did anyone just get an email from UT Houston that was confusing? I already got in but they just sent me an email saying they're processing my application?
That's awesome congrats :!! The official letter from the graduate division shows up on the admitted students page in like a week or soJust got my acceptance email from UC-Berkeley for MCH!!
Well, the public health school has recommended me, so I still have to wait for an official acceptance from Berkeley's Graduate School.
I am also in the same boat for the UTHSC people. I'm not sure what the e-mail means, but maybe once they send the login info, we can see our acceptance letters?
I just got an email from Columbia about a future "informal interview" for the Health Policy Program...anyone else got this or know about this? I'm so nervous!!!
