MI resident here applying to MPH - Epi programs. On my list right now is Michigan, Minnesota, Emory, Yale, Columbia, Iowa, and Wash U. I'm doing the degree to learn research methods and get a good public health basis before getting a medical degree. Hoping to get into Michigan or Minnesota because of how good I hear the programs are and because of the great price point.
I'm wondering how much being a first generation applicant helps and if anyone perusing these forums can chime in on their experience at any of these schools and give some application tips. Can anyone suggest any programs to remove? Or schools to add that have a strong epi program/chronic disease research centers that have a pretty good price point?
