3.8 cGPA
3.7 sGPA
34 MCAT (11 BS,12 VR,11 PS)
Anthropology (medical concentration) major
Ohio resident
Experiences:
Very involved in campus EMS club as an EMT, includes prominent leadership position. All volunteer work (this is at least a 12 hour shift/week, then add a minimum of 4 hours/week administration)
Occasional Habitat build/Restore
~60-70 hours shadowing surgeon
1 month observing surgeries in rural Sudan
3 summer research internships where I managed (but did not develop) my own projects, one publication (not first author)
Member of a fraternity
Work experience that seasonally spans back to middle school
Will be:
Studying abroad in Geneva to observe WHA this summer
CPR Instructor by the end of this semester
Filling the rest of my summer either working abroad or in a social sciences research internship
I am extremely interested in programs that have a concentration on global health. I would very much like to work among refugee and conflict populations, and am thus much more invested in primary care than in research. I may also be interested in MD/MPH and/or MD/MA I have a list of schools, but would like to make it shorter. Please let me know which I should get rid of, and if I am missing any that have relevant programs for which I might have a chance. There are a few schools (especially at the beginning of the list) about which I am not particularly excited, but I'm not sure where my safe-zone should be.
