Hi,
I'm interested in pursuing residency in FM in the US.
I graduated in 2010.
Step 1: 201 (2nd attempt)
Step 2 CK: 197
Step 2 CS: Pass
6 month observerships in the US
Currently, I'm preparing for Step 3. I'm an IMG and I need a work visa.
This was my second year applying for FM and I did not match.
Besides Step 3, what else can I do to improve my CV?

First of all, alot of IMGs think that FM is for those who score less on their USMLEs. Well this is NOT the fact. Your scores are on the lower side than average of what most AMGs score. This plus having a rural connection puts more AMGs into the spotlight for matching into FM than IMGs.

What more you can do? Well I would suggest to give your Step 3, do volunteering work and probably get some hands on experience like clerkships or externships. Most programs don't consider observerships as US clinical experience. This is what my friend told me.

Match is getting more difficult every year for IMGs, so good luck.
