Hi guys!
Here's my school list so far, but I could use some advice on which schools to add/remove. I'm not sure what a good number of schools is, so some help there would be great. I also need some help picking safeties because there aren't any in my home state. Any comments would be appreciated.

Stats:
BA Biology
3.8 cGPA
3.7 sGPA
38 MCAT
Maryland resident

ECs:
Research (3 yrs, no authorship)
3 yrs clinical volunteering + 1 yr non-clinical
50+ hours shadowing
EMT for 2 years

Schools:
UMD
Hopkins
UNC
Duke
Georgetown
Mt. Sinai
NYU
Northwestern
UPenn
UChicago
UPitt
USC
UVA
Vanderbilt
VCU
WashU

Great stats, but without more information about your EC's it would be hard for us to tell you your chances at the higher tier schools. Things like leadership, research, medical and non-medical EC's/interests start playing a more important role as many people applying have top level stats.

Thanks for the input. Here's a bit more information about my EC's:

President of a student-run club on campus (~15 hrs/week)
Research on infection/disease process of E. coli
Besides volunteering/shadowing, no other medical EC's
Play on a couple of club sports teams

I'm also wondering, would you say my list is too top-heavy?

Hope that helps!

Since you have the stats to apply to practically any medical school, I am hesitant to say 'too top-heavy', but you should consider adding maybe 2-3 more 'mid to low-high tier' schools (around where NYU might stand), if that even makes sense. Top-tiers are 'reaches' for practically everyone, so you really have to leverage your EC's and unique interests to convince the adcoms that you would be a valuable addition.
