So I've been doing some of the khan academy practice questions to fill in with my kaplan ones, and I've noticed that they often allude to momentum equations when giving hints to the solutions. For example in 'imaging tissue structures in muon tomography' in their physical science practice passages, one of their hints refers to the equation E=p^2/2*m, which I've never seen before.

Since khan academy mcat prep is sponsored by the AAMC, is this a hint that we're supposed to be familiar with momentum equations going in to the test?? It's not mentioned anywhere on the official mcat 2015 content list.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I have been tutoring MCAT since 2010 and this is the first I have ever seen this equation. I vote that it ain't necessary.

I'm sure you could derive it from basic principles of you had to. But you won't need to.
