So there is a video on ACCSAP 9 for EKG coding. The very first EKG demonstrates inferior STEMI. The speaker in that video claims that this year, they took out the "Q Wave Myocaridal infarction" and replaced it with "Myocardial infarction" this year.

I verified that on the ABIM website on their exam tutorial
https://portal.examstudio.com/PLExam.aspx

Previously, unless we saw Q waves, we only coded for myocardial injury. Now he claims that we need to code for Acute MI with the location too even if there are no q waves IN ADDITION to coding myocardial injury.

Did you guys hear about this? Is it true? This could be a huge difference in coding STEMIs on the boards.... which are in two days...

Bump.

Have the same question :(

Injury is still on the answer sheet. If you didn't code injury with a q wave before, you shouldn't code it now. Injury wouldn't still be there if a STEMI without Q waves was under acute MI. But it would be nice if they actually published rules about this. I mean WTF ABIM
