Quick question regarding non-science faculty lor. I did a lot of volunteer work organized by a bio professor at my school and was planning on asking him for a lor. My only question is whether this would qualify as a non science lor since I only know him through volunteer work?

A non-science faculty letter is one from a prof who taught you in a non-science course (e.g., music, sociology, english, econ, etc.). So no, it wouldn't count for a non-science faculty LOR for schools that request them.

To go off what Sir @WillburCobb said, it would count as an additional letter, aka in addition to the 2 science + 1 non-science from profs who taught you in a class. Other 'additional' letters include ones from PI's and volunteer coordinators. Good luck.

Thank you for honoray knighthood sir @Oso
