NYCPM Living Off-Campus

Hey everyone,

I had a few questions related to living off campus as a first year student at NYCPM:

1. What are good sites online to find apartments in the city?
2. What neighborhoods do you recommend other than East Harlem?
3. If I will be commuting via public transportation what boundaries would you recommend? (for example: would you recommend not looking in Brooklyn?)
4. What is a good monthly budget for rent/groceries/utilities/eating out/etc?
5. When should I start looking for an apartment? (it seems like all the postings are only available now and I won't be starting until September...but I don't want to wait until last minute to know where I'm living)
