Tangentially relevant, but familiar story on yet another federal system charged with providing healthcare to its volunteers in relatively austere environments:

It's a sad story, no doubt. Hard to say who's at fault (the Peace Corps for contracting out their medical care, the actual physician . . .I'm sure it can be argued many ways).

One thing's for sure: it looks like the NYT is gunning for another VA-type scandal. The story about the MC didn't catch on, so now they're going after the Peace Corp? What next, the Salvation Army?

Yeah, that was my first take-away. Did the NYT just shotgun FOIA requests to every agency in DC? Imagine the media traction if some poor State Dept doc was mentioned in a Benghazi document...
