For people who are interested in nephrology there is good news and bad news.
The good news is the applicant this year 2012 is 60 percent less and all program are worried if they can fill all the position and the reason and the bad news is the future for nephrology job is the lowest with expected salary way less than hospitalist around 120k-140k with long hours of work which most after finishing nephrology are going back to hospitalsit.for those applying in nephrology please now this fact and currently I am doing Nephro fellowship and very disappointing .
that's a normal trend for most subspecialties....demand, salary and competetion takes turn, GI was once the least desired fellowship but changed overtime with changes in guidelines and CMS rules. I think you should not worry about salary now as long you have a strong passion for what you choose...For people who are interested in nephrology there is good news and bad news.

I received the same email! No idea how to interpret it..
I'd like to think that they have considered our applications but have not decided our fate yet..
me too...and U of Maryland..Got an invite from Geisinger today!
Went to 2 interviews. so far no medical questions. pretty much all general questions about life, why nephro, chat about the city. just sharing ~~~ and not sure whether this is normal though~~~
Thank you for posting your experience! I have not started interviewing myself but have thought about a question for a while. Of the interview itineraries I have seen, it appears that we are going to have 6-9 interviews a day which is way more than residency interviews. Did you have that many during your two interview days? Was it exhausting?
Also, on average how many candidates are they interviewing in a day?
What is more disappointing, is the fact that you joined the forum today, only to copy and paste this reply on multiple threads.
Please take a look at the data and decide for yourself. Please remember that everyone will start low and ascend gradually.
