Official 2014-2015 Cardiology Fellowship Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
DO, residency in a good university program, several abstracts and presentations at national meetings, Letters of Rec were probably the strongest point of my application. Applied to 100 programs and got a reasonable number of interviews

Hi Vova1234 thanks for sharing....how many interviews does one need to get to successfully match in cardiology?

if the ADTS hasnt turned blue, does it mean they havent even downloaded my application?

same here, love letter from Univ of Washington! I've decided to stay positive.

"Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, but only empties today of its strength."

Charles Spurgeon

Thanks for the quote, it helps!

Grey Goose on the rocks with sad Punjabi songs works perfectly too....!

Guys for lack of better things to do let me propose a theory, out my programs may be 5 turned blue, two already sent invitations which I haven't received, rest of them are in California and they are very competitive, is it possible that blue means that application did not go through automatic filter. All my invitations are from programs which are black.

That's an interesting theory....let's see if anyone else had the same experience....

I can confirm that none of my programs are blue and I've gotten an interview.

You guys are funny with the black and blue. I just checked my list. Most are black and a few are blue. The blues range from 'reaches' to 'safeties'. All of my interviews are from blacks.

Some of my interviews are from "blues." I got nothin' Interesting theories though.

samesies re: UW rejection. IMG, low tier univ program. +research +good scores probably good LORs

sent in application on 8/1 (was on back to back units, blah blah)....not many "blue" applications. i feel an overwhelming sense of doom. warranted? :sorry:

good luck everybody

Just curious, could this be considered a sign that UW is possibly still considering me? I submitted my application on 7/15, and have not gotten a rejection. any thoughts?

Its the same as during residency application.
Interviews and rejections come in batches. Somebody receiving invitation doesn't mean that you are rejected and others receiving rejection doesn't mean that you have a higher probability of getting an interview. I didn't receive rejection nor invite. IMO doesn't mean nothing. There are probably a lot of people in similar situation

Thoughts on updating programs on an accepted, first author accepted manuscript, albeit a case report, to a major journal?

Addendum: cardiology related report

Why not? What have you got to lose? Get it on your application. I can't imagine a scenario where it would hurt you.

You should definitely do it! Draft a nice email with this update and send it to all programs! Most of them will reply with a good word or two and maybe will turn their attention to your application for a minute.

Did you guys get confirmation of interview date from Columbia? In email they said it will be send by August 18 but I was hoping it will be sooner.

I have not heard back yet after sending them my date preferences.

For those DO's:
I am a DO at an ACGME university program (not top tier), have an MBA in health care admin, dozen posters at regional, 1 at national, several case reports etc, designed a pilot RCT with funding. Great letters (I hope :) from PD and APD whom I've worked with on numerous QI projects, as well as one from our Cardio division chief, and a 4th from a community DO in PP.

Thus far I've gotten Vermont, UF Jax, and St. John's on the dates above.
I agree with previous posters they seem to be slower offering interviews, everyone I've talked to MD/DO/IMG I haven't heard different than here

Did anybody receive a weird message on ERAS from University of Utah?

Anyone have any trouble scheduling an interview? I ended up getting waitlisted for my first interview since they ran out of spots on the interview days they had decided apparently. Anyone experienced this now or in the past? A little concerned since I dont know what that means.

Did anyone receive an email from Univ of Nebraska stating that they received completed application, which is currently being reviewed and will notify us about the interview in 3rd week of August, if chosen? Any idea what it means?

Yes I did. Not sure what that means but I guess we should feel good that they are hanging on our applications for this long....I am very nervous still!

i think they sent it to everybody
