Huh...got the Jackson email, went to check it...
"there are no messages to view in your inbox"

Looks like they reset the system to get it back up, either they are still working out the bugs or messages weren't retained.
I'm thinking the former is what's happening.

I hope they haven't screwed up the entire site (which you can expect even after paying their fees). I cannot see any messages in my inbox, its all blank!! I hope people don't miss interview invites like this, rejection is not a problem if you miss to see it. If program won't hear in 1-2 days from you because of this sh*** ERAS service, they will try to give it out to other people. ERAS is making tons of money from applicants and don't know how to run the website. Really upsets me. Anyway, good luck to all!

I was able to open it on my phone but not a desktop, weird. It is a rejection :(

REJECTED!

Does anyone know the VCU interview date schedule? Can't seem to get in touch w/ program coordinator at all. Just need to know what time the day starts and ends. Thanks!

Is anyone willing to trade MGH interviews - i'm scheduled for 9/26 but can't go anymore, looking for ANY date in October. I know this is last minute.

Is Drexel a joke? She needs to get off Facebook and do some real work

maybe they like their in-house candidates this year?

on the other hand, there are quite a few places not on our list that I'm sure more than a few of us are waiting to hear from. it just seems like invites are 2 weeks later this year in general, so I'd expect that they will trickle into october.

Who will kindly update the list?! we are beating the cardiology forum folks so lets keep it up. I would do it if I was at home.

Congrats again to everyone who got interviews. I dont know how many people are in the same boat as I am, but I have 0 interviews and I am pretty certain that the season is over for me now. After talking to some of my seniors (who have graduated) the middle of September is too late for any hopes of an interview. Ever since July I have felt very depressed about this process and I am uncertain of my future as this really represents my first failure in anything. I am a great resident, have great letters, unfortunately I am from a community fellowship program with no home fellowship. My USMLE scores are Step 1 228/step 2: 217/step 3: 210 all passed 1st attempt. I am an IMG and have 2 ongoing GI research projects, and have about 12 posters ( clinical vignettes). I dont know what I am doing wrong. I am requesting some guidance, and hope this forum will shed some light as to where I stand, and what I can do-
1. Chief? Lots of good candidates in my program are already keen on this, so not sure if I can get this.
2. Attending/Faculty in a university setting?
3. Research somewhere? If someone has some ideas please guide me.
4. Another fellowship? nutrition/ibd/hepatology? dont know how competitive these are to get
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for listening to me, and hope we can help each other out for the ultimate dream of GI.

Hey Rajkotgi...dont give up or lose hope. I can only imagine what you are going through and its easier for someone else to say that but one thing I've always believed in is to never give up on your dreams.
You have to realize you are applying to the most competitive IM fellowship...Most people think cardiology is but after going through this, GI is 10x more competitive. Being an IMG and from a community program might be your biggest hurdles but you have decent scores and have shown that you are interested in research. I would say continue to do research and try to produce some original work. You can apply to an IBD/hepatology or nutrition fellowships but truthfully I am not sure how much it will help unless you really work hard and impress them. I would not do another fellowship--if your passion is GI then don't waste your time doing something you wont enjoy for the rest of your life.

I have two schedule change requests:
-Mayo clinic scottsdale: does anyone want to trade their sept 29th date for my oct 2nd date?
-Washington hospital center: does anyone want to trade their oct 6th date for my oct 10th date?
I would be greatly appreciate and if you need anything extra just let me know

Allegheny General Hospital IV after being on waiting list.

I hear MUSC (South Carolina) sent out invites awhile back, just an FYI

Louisville, Rutgers in New Brunswick, NJ and Boston also sent out invites.

Probably only 5 or so programs that still need to send invites for interviews.

I know for sure that SUNY Downstate, Howard, Drexel, Medical College in Georgia and UTMB will send invites next week according to their program coordinators.

Jefferson sent out interviews too. Sent mine last week, not clear if I was first round or later round IV.
When did Rutgers send out?
Did Louisiana State University Shreveport send out for anyone?

Not sure exactly but the coordinator said they already sent out invites.

hi all
congrats on everyone who have been interviewing. I am an IMG and it sounds like season is over for me. I am looking at the IMG list and it is pretty intense. However I am not sure if ppl are including carribbean schools as IMGs too. Second is are the IMGs who are getting ivs green card holders, J1 or H1?
It would be great if someone has explanation for it. and the top IMG IV guys, if u can at least give information on your visa status, that would be reallly helpful. Good luck for the match

More research is not likely to help you, unless you pump out a first author paper in a high-impact publication. The problem is you are getting screened out due to multiple strikes to your application: IMG, community program, downtrending step scores. Despite your apparent strong letters, they are from community docs who the various PDs likely do not know, and therefore have less impact.

Getting 0 interviews shows you what you are up against. Statistically it takes ~7 interviews to match. Another line here or there on your CV is not likely to make it happen. You need a personal connection. Does your home program have a GI fellowship?

I don't think a chief year at a community program, unless you have a GI fellowship and you can gun for the internal spot, will help. A hospitalist year at an academic program does not make you a stronger applicant.

I did meet an IMG on the trail who did some hepatology fellowship before a formal GI fellowship, not sure if that helps.

You are in a tough spot, and I am sorry for your struggle this year. I can only imagine how depressing and discouraging it is. Realistically, you might have one more shot to try the season again, but you need to do more than just add a paper/abstract in a throw-away journal.

Your best shot will be having a mentor with connections who can politically get your foot in the door.

Not an expert on this by any means, but anecdotally, IMG friends/coworkers who has success in the GI match (they were all non-Carib IMGs with high board scores, for what it's worth) had at least one of the following:
1) phd 2) prior surgical experience 3) did chief year and matched internally 4) did substantial research with someone really well-known
who backed their application
