Quick question: if we haven't heard from one of the above listed programs, is it safe to assume we will likely not get interviews there? (unless others cancel?) Is it a trend that most programs extend interview offers all at once, up front?

I don't think anyone has the answer to this. Some programs already have multiple dates listed above. I think it's just a waiting game at this point.

difficult to say. 90% I would say programs like to send invites within a week. noone likes to fiddle with applications for weeks. Most attendings take about one to two days to review 100 or so applications given to them and ask to pick 5 to 10 from them for interviews. in some programs, PD and asso PD does the whole work. i wouldnt keep high hopes on programs that are on the list, barring cancellations, which are hard to come by in GI

damn getting a GI interview is like applying to med school again just this time the applicants are better o_O

its sort of warning. close to 30-40% programs have sent interview invites. if u havent heard so far, chances are that you ll get less than ideal numb of IVs for GI. But u may make the cut even with lesser number of ivs. prepare backup but i would wait until end of august to come to the bigger conclusion

Anybody hear from NYC? radio silence from north east
 
I think our thread mostly consists of people applying/reporting on university programs, but outside NYC it seems many/most university programs from pennsylvania and boston have sent out invites.

New poster. I applied mostly to the coast programs because my wife's family is on the west coast and mine are on the east coast. I haven't heard from any of the programs I applied to. Getting worried here. I spoke to my PD on Monday and he thinks there is still time but man I hate the silence.

i spoke to my PD this week and he said they were not even done looking through the applications nor have they sent out any invites. I imagine things will move on the west coast this week and next... its still early is what some of the fellows are saying. hope that brings some peace of mind.

I agree with what was said above.
If you look at the GI threads from previous years, it looks like most of the west coast action happens later in August. Our thread from this year also remains pretty light on the west coast programs currently.

Memorial Sloan Kettering is on the list x 2 , otherwise no other NYC programs are posted.

But as everyone else said above - it sounds like this week and next week things start really picking up!
