Hi everyone, I've received an interview invitation from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for Oct 5th. Unfortunately I've scheduled another interview on the same date and it's beyond the freeze date for that program.
I'll be grateful if anyone can swap dates with me if they have been offered interview on an alternate date with Advocate Lutheran.
Please let me know as soon as possible at [email protected].
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone heard from the University of Kansas?

Does anybody know anyone who matched to a place after getting a second cycle interview or an interview from the wait list? For example I just received an IV from UCSD because a spot opened up, but thinking because I was not in the initial batch to get an interview, my chances are probably less here?

probably less chance, but still a chance to match. If you are interested, you should definitely attend IMO

Something I think we all tend to forget, when getting absorbed in this whole application process, is that we are all individuals, with unique skills, backgrounds, interests and personalities...

yet we all are given interviews based solely on numbers, words, statistics...

the interview is your opportunity to prove you are more than your CV...i say take that opportunity to interview, BearsBears, and don't worry about their initial impression of your numbers, words and statistics ;)

Hello everyone, I have an interview at University of Arkansas on 09/30. Anyone who is reading this post and interviewing at Univ of Arkansas on 09/23 or 10/14, could you please swap a date with me. I really need to change the date. Your help will be highly appreciated. Please text me/call me at 954-608-0622.

I don't think your chances are significantly less, even if you weren't offered an initial interview, the number of applicants they select to interview out of the number of applicants that applied to their program that they had to select from (so maybe you were 41st on the list and they initially invited their top 40 choices out of 400 applicants ) simply makes you very likely similar to their top choices.

Has anyone heard from Peoria, Illinois?? No one answers the phone there!

Rush only offered me 11/5. Interesting.

Hey! Are you, or anyone else, able to switch your Rush interview date to 10/8? I desperately need a switch from 10/8 to 11/5. I can aid in paying for travel changes but I'm not offering bribes! lol

Hey guys,
It is really depressing for an IMG who worked really hard, worked his heart off for two years, not to get any interview. Any one like me?

its very true that IMGs on visa have a hard time convincing programs. But what I noticed that even AMGs have upped their game these days. They are doing more research, more posters and more publications. Noone is leaving any stone unturned.

In the end, the biggest factor apart from contacts, which gets the seat, is where u do IM residency and still in training. Unfortunately the big programs really hardly take IMGs, may be 1% of IMGs enter into big univs and these ppl have it super easy when its time for fellowship.

Bottomline, score high in steps, get into a big residency and things are easier.

Speak with some of the other successful IMGS and see what they have done to improve there app. Its tough out there.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I doubt this will make you feel any better, but most AMGs I know who have applied to GI wish they had more interviews. I know I do. I might be among the minority, but I believe that given similar qualifications, preference should be given to AMGs. It doesn't help that each year the applicants are becoming more and more competitive.

for IMGs to succeed in GI, they have to outperform AMGs. At this time, AMGs are working hard to stay competiitve and on any given day, AMG will be picked ahead of IMG for similar profile. IMGs who have matched in the past few years have come from big programs(unless they are in house candidate, in mid to low tier programs like SUNY Upstate syracuse, Geisinger where their programs fill half the spots internally).

Regardless of AMG or IMG, to match in an outside bigger program is still very tough. Most programs have avg of 4 spots. In house is the simplest choice, 2 of the 3-5 in house candidates are picked based on who is better than other. the remaining 2 spots in the program warrants a search through 500 odd applications.

I was rounding with my GI program director today and apparently one applicant who had interview scheduled for october 5 cancelled it today(who cancels on a weekend. bum!!). N my PD did not save a wait list candidate and doesn't wanna go back to ERAS applications. He asked me if I knew anyone to take up the iv spot. I, being IMG myself, said I will tell next week. He asked me to get back with 3 names by tuesday and he ll pick one of them for the spot.

I want to help a deserving IMG with a spot(given how hard it is for IMGs and many deserving IMGs don get interviews, sorry AMGs). If you want to be considered, PM me with the following details(completely voluntary on ur part)
1. name, residency program and AAMC ID.
2. 4-5 few lines about your research experience, abstracts and NON ABSTRACT- publications(excluding case report publications).

If needed, I will ask for your full CV. Plz don copy paste your entire CV in the message. keep it succinct and crisp.

A couple lines about myself: third year fellow. planning to enter academics. This is not my original profile as I have posted multiple times in the last few years threads and want to conceal my identity for privacy reasons.

God bless
