If the fellowship is listed already that means I have missed the opportunity to go there?!
I am AMG very confused/worried, because interviews are not trailing in.... and the placed i applied, at least 8 of them, are listed .....

I applied late. No IV so far. I'm IMG but don't need visa.

No I don't think it means that and I wouldn't worry yet. It's still early.

1. Many places still haven't offered interviews, so you probably still have lots of potential places.

2. Generally programs send invites in batches and will send more as people cancel interviews. It's probably a good thing to be in the first batch, but I'm sure you could rise to the top with a good interview even if you're invited late in the game.

Keep your chin up - lots of time to go!

Yea I haven't heard anything back yet either and I'm sure plenty others are in the same boat as us. If you look at this thread most of the interviews are from a handful of people only. Plus in prior years many interviews didn't go out until mid to late August so plenty of time left. No need to sweat just yet.

Hey everyone, I just went through this last year and know how exciting but scary it is.

For those starting to panic, the place I matched at last year gave out their first batch of interviews almost a month before I got my interview invite. I went and loved it, ranked it #1 and matched despite not being one of their early invites. Just stay positive, it's still very early in the process.

thank you for clarifying this very important point!
At the same time, I wonder if anyone is taking into account our cost of travel. My credit card would prefer to know now that I will be flying cross country. :( the amount of sacrifice we do for our careers is immense..... usually this type of short notice is for people in Cards and GI. (although I also think it is not fair for them too!)

Medicine when will you change your old-time ways?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on how many programs to interview at/rank AMG vs IMG to ensure you match? I looked at the NRMP charting the outcomes data, but it's from 2011 and I assume things are much different now. Hey Holajello, you've asked some great questions. I don't have the answer to them. Chair of Rheumatology at my program said applying to 20/25 programs and interviewing at >5 should be sufficient. However, everyone is different in terms of AMG vs IMG, scores,research, Visa status so I think being cautious may be the better alternative. I'm probably going to IV at 10 places to be safe. Hope others may have more useful feedback to share.
 
I got an invite to Tufts today but they only offered me one interview date. Did anyone else encounter this with this program or any of the others?

Well looking at the thread it appears they already handed out interviews on a couple other days prior so I'm sure many of the spots were taken. Overall for fellowship most programs don't have a whole lot of interview days to start with.
