DON'T LISTEN TO HIM HE'S ON THE WAITLIST AT BOTH THOSE SCHOOLS

I'm not on either. That person has an awesome GPA and the only thing holding them back from a cheap school is their DAT.

Think long and hard about $500k.

His GPA is 3.38, which is far from impressive. Also, he lives in Cali, so state schools are out of his reach with his academics.

Or, she could get a worse score on his DAT and not get in anywhere next cycle....

She can look into the various loan forgiveness programs offered around the country to help pay down the debt load, especially going to MOSDOH. I would hate that debt too, but I would hate not going to dental school more.

I thought it was the person with 3.83 and a bad DAT. That person should reapply.

3.38 person should still think about it. Even though she is saying money isn't an issue.

On a brighter note, good job on at least getting an acceptance.

I went to UCLA for undergrad and I hated every minute, so I studied abroad multiple times. My only other state school is UCSF and I interviewed there. My low DAT didn't matter. My interviewer was just trying to find out why I traveled the world as a history undergrad and wanted to be a dentist. That 500k is tough, but I'm not scared of being in debt. The loan is just something to make lifestyle adjustments to.

Not much compared to other applicants. I was actually a history major and just traveled throughout undergrad. I also did a one year career changer post bac.

Did you have a bunch of volunteering hours and shadowing?
It's awesome to see you got a bunch of interviews from schools I'm interested in so I'm just trying to get an idea of my chances. :) thanks!

Legit pissed about LECOM. I'm on the waitlist, and every time I call asking, they tell me there are still seats open. That's really cute and all... but I need to decide a personal decision about what I'm doing next year and the deadline is NEXT FRIDAY. I'd rather be rejected (much rather be accepted) than stay on the waitlist and not know if I'll regret making the final decision by next Friday and being accepted afterwards. I'm also on UF's waitlist... but gave up hope on that one.

According to Facebook page, there was movement on UF 's waitlist earlier this week. Good luck!

I had 200 hours of shadowing by the time I applied from my family dentist. I think my interviews stemmed from awesome letters of rec. I did undergrad history research with a professor who was recognized by Obama two years ago.

So I know its late but I thought i'd chime in because I applied very late(don't do this), with average stats and wasn't expecting to hear back from anywhere. So maybe this will give someone hope for next cycle!

Submitted APP: Mid November
Interviews: LECOM, Nova, Tufts, Midwestern-Ill, Declined interviews from NYU and Temple.
Waitlisted: LECOM
Accepted: Nova, Midwestern IL, Tufts

GPA: 3.4ish (science), 3.55 (overall)
DAT: 20 AA 19 TS

Congrats!!!!!! Just wondering where you ended up going? And what were your extracurriculars/hours like? I'm looking into a lot of those schools this cycle

I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT... Still though, I feel like there r so many people on the waitlist. I had a Sep interview and have been waitlisted since December... But my friend who interviewed in Jan also got waitlisted. I'm telling you these waitlists r crap.

Already on the 2nd week of mine. We have our first test in a week.

Crazy. I have a final exam this week for A&P2 and the University of Washington just had their graduation yesterday. Why do some schools start so early?

Your school ends late. lol my school ended like 1 month ago, just like most of us actually haha.

Dunno why your graduations are so late. I've always graduated in May.

My school starts in June because of anatomy.

In light of these recent developments I will hereby stop complaining about our Aug. 10 start date.

2 Main Reasons.
1. Location. I thought Iowa was too far from home and a bit too plain. Case Western was also too far from home and I felt unsafe in a city that big. I adored Nashville and found it to be similar to where I'm from.
2. But lets be real here, money was the biggest deciding factor. I received a private scholarship from the school for my first year. Factor in the amount of money I'm saving by not buying airflights tickets home when I can drive within a day, lower cost of living, and I've already saved tens of thousands of dollars.

Nashville is about twice the size of Cleveland :).

You're right, my bad. But it doesn't take away the fact I didnt feel safe living there for four years.

School: Temple
Notification date: Early June
Method of notification: Email
Residency: PA
AADSAS mail-out date: August
Application complete date: September
GPA (science, overall): 3.4/3.7
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 19/18/21/24

Also interview at Howard and Case which I turned down.

It ain't over til its over baby! And thanks to all you haters who bash average GPAs and average DAT scores :)
