OHSU psychiatry residency is annoucing the development of three distinct professional development tracks in their training program. The goal is to enhance connection to professional organizations and assist with development of a professional identity. The tracks including leadership, clinical educator, and research tracks. Residents are asked to identify their track of interest early in residency with the hopes of supporting early career development such as completing research projects, publishing journal articles, and identifying mentors. These tracks meet twice monthly during didactics to focus on track specifc group and personal goals.

What does the 'leadership' track entail? It isn't described on the website.

Thank you for your interest. I apologize that the information hasn't made it onto the website as of yet. Should be there in the next week, so please check back.
In essence, the goal of the leadership track is to assist residents interested in academic medicine and administration to develop leadership skills early in their careers. Themes include creating innovative solutions to address quality improvement and system issues. The track entails twice monthly meetings, currently with the Chair of the Department and other faculty, as well as access to leadership specific educational resources, mentorship, article discussions, and direct practice of leadership skills. Residents will be encouraged to seek additional leadership positions and involvment in committies such as the House Officers Association, Graduate Medical Education Committee, and other state and national associations. This should provide additional support in completing QI projects, publishing articles, presenting at conferences, etc. Hope that helps.
