I had family medicine late in my 3rd year and wasn't sure what I was going to do with my life - I liked most every rotation, psych more than others, but wasn't completely OK with giving up procedures and the nitty gritty of medicine so I'm going to do FM. It was a somewhat late decision but I'm happy with it and realized part of the reason I really liked psych was because it can be done outpatient.

So, I've been looking at residencies - and there's a pretty overwhelming number of them between community, academic, rural, unopposed, etc.

I ideally want to practice in a smaller town, with some subspecialists available, but not all.

1 - I'd like to do a good amount of derm procedures - in most residencies is it relatively easy to just fill out electives with derm or should I look into being able to specifically at each site?

2 - I'd like to give some of my time to working for/volunteering with a ski patrol or large/national park. I'm not against a sports med fellowship by any means, but would it actually be helpful? Are wilderness electives during residency a thing or would I focus on EM rotations?

3 - Want to be pretty comfortable treating psychiatric conditions. I really do enjoy psych and would like good training in this area.

If you're currently doing residency at a site that you think would fit my needs please let me know! If I'm very misguided in what I might get out of my residency, also, please let me know. Thank you in advance for any responses!

Other:
national average USMLE step 1, above average COMLEX level 1, no red flags as of now and not expecting any (waiting on PE, and take step 2 very soon). A's in all clerkships this far. Middle of my class.

From the Northeast - but not necessarily tied to the area. Not really interested in the area of the U.S. in between Pennsylvania and Yellowstone, but I would do Texas, Tennessee.
