one of those nights

Tonight was one of the rare nights I nearly regret my decision to be an ER doc. If the patients weren't agitated they were delirious, if not delirious, drug seeking and so on... One of those nights where you can't seem to make a dispo on anyone, where you feel yourself moving slower and slower, and where you can't get any charting done because you keep having to put out fires here and there. It was one of those nights spent on the phone with the nursing home and the jail. I'm exhausted and drained. Yep, one of those nights.

Been there. Remember: the occasional crappy shift serves the purpose of helping you appreciate the good ones. It'll get better.
