Hey all,

I have all the prerequisites done except one physics course + lab.

I actually took one semester of Physics with lab and one semester without lab.
I am taking this online course because one semester of Physics did not have a lab component.

I'm enrolled in an online physics course (with home lab component) right now, but I am beginning to wonder whether schools might even accept this course.

Should I drop this course (with W) and take it at a local institution in Fall? or should I continue? :( Please advise!

Hey Loungebunny,

In regards to online pre-reqs in general you might find these threads helpful

If you are already enrolled in a course (and thus it will show up on your transcript no matter what) I think the best thing to do is finish it - aiming to get the best grade possible. If you are in danger of not making a good grade (and have not withdrawn from many courses) you could consider taking a W.

Thanks! I guess I'll just stay in the course... and consider re-taking it later.

I think that's the right way to go. Look on the bright side -- the second time around should be something like an easy A, and review for the MCAT you'd have to be doing anyway

Will it show up on your transcript as online? I thought it's okay as long as its accredited through a local university and doesn't show up via section number as online???

I am curious about this, as well. A local university, regionally accredited of course, offers both parts of physics lecture online over Summer with an on-site lab session. I was thinking about going ahead and taking it, but I am hesitant as to whether or not it would be accepted. It does not really make sense to me why it wouldn't, but does anyone have a definitive answer? Also, are there any schools in particular that definitely do not take ANY sort of online class, or is it mainly that these schools require you to have a lab, which isn't generally feasible in traditional online courses?

I may or may not have taken some of my sciences classes online at my local university (while also taking classes on campus) but they were listed the same on my transcript and no one asked me if I had taken any online courses;)

So when I go to apply and list all of my courses for AMCAS, I won't have to designate if it was a "distance learning" course or not? That was my main concern, as I do not believe it will show up as an online course on my transcript.
