Hey guys, I'm studying for the MCAT doing practice IR problems and I noticed that in the lit values there's a reference to "Higher Esters". I can't find the definition for this term in my orgo textbook or online. Anyone know what higher esters actually are??

Thanks

Take my educated guess with a grain of salt, but I believe it could denote esters that have complex R groups attached to it. For example, a simple ester could be Me2O, whereas a higher ester could have two tert-butyl groups attached.
