Sigh, guess I ought to start working on getting my interview skills back up to par. It's been long years since I had to explain myself to another person.

Was that your Mercer interview? Good Luck!

I don't get the point of twitter...I just took a nap and now I have a headache and I'm hungry. Work was busy- too much chemo to make. I think I'll heat some edamame and watch the olympics.

Twitter is for people who think they are important... Oh really? You're going running? Awesome!

What other leader is there for the party?

And, I don't mean any disrespect when I say this, but the Republicans that exist in this country today are so biased and obtuse to things that they think Palin is the greatest thing in the world when in reality she's the political party equivalent of Paris Hilton.

Ya know minus the sex tapes.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/02/20/ron-paul-takes-cpac-presidential-straw-poll/
Ron Paul takes CPAC presidential straw poll
... the 74-year old libertarian hero captured 31 percent of the nearly 2,400 votes cast in the annual contest...
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney finished second with 22 percent of the vote, ending a three-year winning streak at CPAC. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin finished third with 7 percent of the vote,:laugh::laugh: followed by Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty at 6 percent and Indiana Rep. Mike Pence at 5 percent.
They were followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who tied at 4 percent.
Reflecting the college atmosphere of the annual event, young people dominated the voting: 54 percent of participants were between the ages of 18 and 25.
omg ... Newt Gingrich?!!!? You know what he just said today at CPAC? ...... :wtf:?

"I believe we are now in a struggle over whether or not we are going to save America," Gingrich said. "I believe the radical left is a secular, socialist machine so dedicated to values destructive of America that if it is allowed to remain in power…that machine is antithetical to the survival of America as a prosperous healthy country. "
Anyhow, that's a political update for people who don't keep up with the drama.

Only reason I got it originally was because I kept getting requests for it. I've found its nice to chat back and forth between people you'd never otherwise chat with.

Yeah I could see how it could be useful or even a bit addicting. I guess I'm "over" facebook at this point so I don't have any interest in twitter. Maybe meeting new people in pharm school will get me back into the social networking

I disable my facebook account all the time ... way too much spam!

I dunno, I guess I have good sound bites so a couple suggested I go the twitter route so I can document them

I have a 14 year old trying to tell me that Kurt Cobain really died of an overdose. Silly kid.

Wow, 14 year olds know who Cobain is?

I guess that's the same as us knowing about Paul McCartney (except that he's still very alive)? Artists before our time(?)

You probably did just fine. I am rooting for you! Are you feeling any better? Good luck on the exam! When do you find out if you got accepted? How exciting!!!!

Thanks! I am feeling a bit better too... I am more worried about interviews and my exams/papers... lol I don't think the worrying helps, but it's hard not to since I care about them a lot. I think I did pretty decent on the exam considering everything going on right before, but I had to wake up early and refresh my memory of the stuff we learned in the beginning of the semester because I didn't get to study a whole lot while in Georgia, but luckily I kind of knew it already. I'm hoping I find out soon, but there is always the chance of getting waitlisted too, so in that case it will be a bit longer to find out yes or no. I'm hoping you get into Minnesota but you are so close I think you will!

Hehehehe, I so agree- how exciting that everything went well and you loved the school. Good luck and I really hope you get in, especially since you geuinely like the school so much. :)

Tinker, I have a feeling - you'll learn how to not sleep in pharm school. I was up at 6:30 am on Saturday since we're going to help out with some vaccination related stuff at a middle school. The 6:30 am when you went to bed at 2, is funner than fun. Pharm school just teaches you not to sleep.

Oh geez I can never make it with only a few hours of sleep unless I have some coffee! lol I've been trying to cut back, but if I get into pharmacy school my coffee drinking habit might just stick around for a while. lol

lol, Miami ranked #6 on Forbe's list of most miserable cities in America

Is Mercer your first choice? G'luck!

Yeah I really liked it there! I'm from Florida, but my dad lived in Georgia for almost a decade when I was in school so it's like a second home.

Thanks everyone for the luck! I wish I had more practice with interviews, but I've done it for jobs so it was kind of similar. lol

lmfao I am impressed! Reminds me of my middle school/high school days when I wore ripped jeans and flannel.

I thought people still do the ripped jeans thing ... not so sure about flannel

How do you handle the humidity? I felt like I was going to die every time I went to Disney World lol

I've been complaining for the past 22.5 years.

For some reason it rains like clockwork in Orlando every afternoon around 2-3pm so it's more sticky than the coast I think... but it's still really humid here in the summer/fall especially.

Hello brothers and sisters,
What do you think of an egotistical tyrant who allows his own son to physically die for a couple of days and come back to life afterwards (wow, some sacrifice!), where this son is also thought to be himself in order to change his own rules. Another way to put it is, he allows his son to die for a couple of days so you have a chance of saving yourself from him. In addition to that, he claims to love you, but the new rule makes it that if you fail his test you will burn for all of eternity. On top of all this, even when the consequences of the test are as such, some people are not fairly given knowledge of the test or are given a much harder version test by being raised in a family or an entire country where this test is laughed at as insane and utterly ridiculous (but he loves them too!). This tyrant demands that you live in his standard of living (What an arrogant control freak!) or the chances of you failing the test increases. He expects all test takers to do their best in following in his standard of livings, but he himself is exempt. What a hypocrite. He demands humans to not be proud, but he wants worship from you by striving to live in his standards 24/7. This tyrant also makes the test even more difficult for people by making it appear he doesn’t even exist in the first place. Prayers that are supposedly answered are always things that could of happen anyways. Never things that are crystal clear, such as healing an amputee on live television or bringing relatives who have been dead for years back to life. Also, people who fervently worship this tyrant seem to not have an advantage with anything in life. It’s as if people have control over their lives and not this tyrant. He does a real god job of hiding his presence! I mean if he loves the test takers so much, why doesn’t he even give clear cut signs such as he did in his message to man! He performed many highly publicized miracles back in the day, but refuses to do any these days. These days, we get faith healers that supposedly heal people of sickness (Many times, people with shorter legs! Coincidence?) who never get anyone outside the group of devoted test takers to check if the healing was real or just feelings from a placebo (Why do we have hospitals if faith healers can really do what they do? If these faith healers are going to test their tyrant’s existence front of devoted test takers, why not front of medical professionals and the general public?). Some test takers also claim to have personal visions that can be just be a natural phenomena the brain is responsible for (Funny how the bright light or the experience the test takers experience is the tyrant and not figures from another religion or just a mere man.). Also, there are test takers who claim to have seen dark figures and immediately ignore the fact that demons exist in almost all religions and that there are schizophrenics out there who also see things. This tyrant is all knowing as well. So he knows ever since the beginning, that the instigators of the test will put it forth, but he acts surprised when they do. He not only acts surprised during these instances, but many other times as well in his message to test takers. In addition, he knows who is going to pass the test from the beginning all the way to the end of times, but he lets it go forth anyways (but he loves everyone!). So not only is he an egotistical tyrant, but he is also a monstrous one. His monstrosity can also clearly be demonstrated with how he allows the murder of the first born of Egyptians by hardening the Pharoah’s heart or purposely making Pharoah fail his test. He also supported genocide and infancide in the supposed conquest of Jericho. This tyrant is also one of the most intolerant characters of all fiction. He cannot stand humans knowing what’s right from wrong and humans who simply just make a mistake- so much, that as many test takers know, he supposedly cursed the two at fault and all descendents of these two. Additionally, at one point, just because people were not living in his standard, the only action the tyrant thought was proper is to drown all living things to death (which he knew he would end up doing). This tyrant also hates homosexuals or he hates people for who they are, an equivalent to a racist. Sounds like this being has great morals! On top of all this, the very message he gives to man appears clearly to be just the works of men! With many, MANY contradictions (Some inconsistencies are found within the same book. John 2:11, John 2:23 and John 4:54. Strange: John 14:5 and John 16:5) Things that contradict the development of the natural world and things that contradict messages in the message. It is also known that there are many messages which did not make it to the official message because test takers in power thought of these “sacred” messages as heretical, not popular enough, outright ridiculous (The Infancy Gospel of Thomas – The tyrant as a baby curses a boy and strikes another dead for bumping into him. http://gbgm-umc.org/umw/Bible/outside.stm) and had other reasons. But ultimately, what’s plainly obvious of why these test takers in power filtered messages out is because they wanted to ensure their power and their view on what the message of Christianity is all about. The only reasons why we know this tyrant resurrected are writings (New Testament) that were written from 10 to about 50 years after the tyrant’s crucifixion. Oddly, out of the 27 messages that made it into the official message book, about 18 of the 27 messages were written 30 years after the tyrant was crucified [Source: Christian apologetic site- http://www.carm.org/when-was-bible-written-and-who-wrote-it The date ranges differ based on who get the information from, but for my case, I will be using the Christian apologetics site as reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dating_of_the_Bible] Why did the writers wait so long to put on paper such “good news”? Also, how accurate can these writer’s accounts be of a birth that happen around 60 years before they started writing? How can you trust a book as divinely inspired when the authors for 19 of the 28 are not known for sure.
A common defense to the truthfulness of the messages is why would the apostles die for a lie or why would they die as martyrs (a person who willingly suffers death rather than renounce his or her religion.)? The Bible records only the death of two apostles, Judas (Contradictory accounts of his death) and James, son of Zebedee. It only implies Simon Peter will die from crucifixion. With James death, whether or not recanting his faith would have saved him is not revealed; he may have just been quickly slashed by swords without even given a chance to talk. Making a specific claim requires specific and strong outside evidence, which the martyr argument lacks. With only the New Testament as the source of why people believe that the twelve apostles saw Jesus resurrected, it is fair to propose that perhaps one of the apostles convinced the other twelve of his hallucination or his lie (Marshall Applewhite had convinced 39 cult members to commit suicide with him because he believed a space craft was trailing the comet, Hale-bopp) Perhaps if any of them did die as martyrs, they did so to save them the embarrassment of what they dedicated a large portion of their lives too or perhaps they were just sincerely believed a lie to the end. Even if they were in a situation where they can die as martyrs, will a confession really be seen as legitimate in the follower’s eyes- of course it’s not. The followers would just view the confession as the result of torture, and knowing how people of these days are scared ****less of hell, imagine how the believers than will behave. Without good reliable external evidence on the death of the apostles, one cannot assess with any certainty how the apostles died at all.
If you’re a devout test taker just because the fear of the test, you should seriously consider another religion (the second largest) that has identical consequences for failing its test. Seriously consider as not looking at apologist material that distorts views that opposes theirs. Who knows? Maybe the majority of America is under the influence of Iblis.
Yes, there are smart people out there that believe in religion. People who have fast rates of information intake, people who are just way faster at processing math and who are able to grasp complex concepts faster than the average person. But that doesn’t mean they are critical about everything in life; one can be smart about everything in life but make a protective shield around their religion in their mind. Also, I don’t know how one can justify the validity of their religion by claiming their religion has smart people when there are also really smart people in other religions. (Take out the confidence of your apologists and analyze the quality of their argument. Once you do this, their argument falls. It’s because they are trying to defend something that is equivalent to Santa Clause.)
Pastors of religions know a lot about their religion’s history, its customs, how to run their religious organizations, how to defend the faith, etc. But I assure you, Pastor school is not like the world of Harry Potter, where the wizard world has tangible things that are concealed from the real world. No Pastor possesses an object or has knowledge of something that once and for all proves that Jesus rose from the dead or any of the supernatural events that supposedly occurred. That’s why they are called faiths. Contrary to what they claim, “holy people” do not know what happens after they die. There are no different from you and do not possess special powers. They just believe they have special powers and want you to believe they have special powers as well.
Liar, lunatic or lord- Considered legend (not actually the son of god)? When I see a picture of the tyrant, I just see a middle Eastern man. Just a man. A human being like you and I. Ever think people have made a man into a god?
Kalam’s argument-Everyone has thought of this. What caused god to exist? People believe Kalam’s argument gets god of the hooks by putting him in the not beginning to exist category or the always exist category. How can you say god is exempt from requiring a cause when no one has observed god in the first place. The only reason people say he is exempt is because of a book not backed by evidence that people from long, long ago have made or because they want their god to be. So it’s circular reasoning. The not beginning to exist category can also include supernatural gods, a supernatural god or purely natural phenomena- to justify that only your god is in the not beginning to exist category is just wishful thinking.
Outside of time- God cannot be solely outside of time or outside the realm of our reality. Since he interacts with our reality, he is in part of our reality. Thus, you cannot justify that god does not require a cause by claiming he is outside of time and the laws of our reality do not affect him. All I see and know is the natural world. Why not say matter always existed?
Islam also has exorcisms. So does Hinduism. (Youtube them yourself. Indian exorcism) There can’t be both Hindu demons and Muslim demons. Somebody is lying or what’s more probable is, that there all lying.
Test takers who have great convictions that this test exists and who are determined not to suffer the consequences of failing this test can easily come to their defense about the ridiculousness of their tyrant and logical implausibility of the test being real by saying “Don’t think about it. You just got to believe.” in some form or another. The weakest version of this counter is “Just have faith.” A stronger version would be “His ways are mysterious and meant to be mysterious.” The strongest version of the counter is, “The human mind is unable to comprehend the logic of the tyrant. His intellect is far superior to ours. None of this may make sense to us, but to him, it makes perfect sense. Also, our limited intelligence will not allow us to fully understand everything of this world. Therefore, you should just believe.” The problem with all of these arguments is that it works for any of the faiths. You can argue that although the gods of the ancient Greeks are no longer worshipped and appear to have just been fairy tales such as Santa and the Flying Spaghetii monster, they in fact, do exist; they may have not give us any unambiguous signs and the stories of them having sex with humans and fighting may sound ridiculous, but they are much more intelligible than us, so although their behavior sounds ludicrous to us, we should just not question it and accept that the ancient Greek gods do exist. It is absurd to say that the deity is so smart that he decides to leave no evidence for himself; this kind of mentality reveals that the person’s mind is sealed and impervious to any sort of critical reflection of their beliefs. Yes, human intellect may be limited and some things, we may never know, but that doesn’t mean we do not know anything about the natural world. With what we do know, Christianity just appears to be another religion in human history. To first consider the intellect of a being, wouldn’t you need some objective, tangible evidence that this intellect exists in the first place? For many test takers, the reason they believe the test exists is because the message the tyrant has given them. To consider the legitimacy of the message the tyrant supposedly has provided test takers with, wouldn’t you want good reliable external evidence that validates anything supernatural the message says about the natural world we live in. [Isn’t it also suspicious that there are no one in Jesus’ contemporary time that failed to record in the New Testament such as the Herodian massacre, the supernatural events surrounding the crucifixion (rise of dead people, darkness and an earthquake), Jesus entrance intro Jerusalem and other very noticeable events. ] If this supposed message from the test taker fails to have any form of evidence in the natural world that any of the supernatural events of the message occurred, the message would clearly just be something that power hungry men put on paper with their great imaginations. [As the existence of Jericho does not confirm that it was destroyed by yelling Israelites, the existence of the pyramids does not mean the ancient Egyptians view of the afterlife is true. Also, if you actually go outside your apologist books, not take the author’s word and critically analyze the works for yourself, you will find that Josephus, Suetonius, Phlegon, Clement of Alexandira, Tacitus, Origen and what others that have some say on Christianity, you will realize that their writings are not reliable as they are too late(Second century to fourth century sources on first century events. Accounts of Jesus= Early ~3/5 of the first half of the first century. Jesus died around 30 ADE.)and some of them were essentially church leaders. Flavius Josephus’s accounts of Jesus as the Christ are certainly interpolations as Josephus was a Jew. Why in the world would a Jew claim Jesus rose back to life in the third day? Also, the mere fact that Origen, a defender of Christianity uses Josephus’s work, but fails to use this ace in his works, puts lot of doubt on the authenticity of the Jesus passage. Also, a historian just mentioning Jesus does not serve as evidence for the supernatural events as depicted in the message.] In other words, it would be another faith, just as likely to be true.

People have start realizing the fear of hell and suffering from the “wrath of god” is not enough for people to rise up in the church and take advantage of the people’s trust. At retreats or big church events, pastors love pretending to be psychics, claiming that god has given them powers that allow them to know personal things about people’s lives. These quacks say things that can apply to everyone, such as “you have been struggling with x,” “you are distressed because your parents x,” “you have great things ahead of you,” etc. Funny how these liars show off their “powers” to only the sheep of their religion instead of people who need it the most. It’s also funny how this power is ultimately useless. Couldn’t you just ask someone what they want to be prayed for? The only purpose I see of this power is to strengthen test taker’s beliefs. If this were the case, how come the power does not allow these pastors to determine specific things about many future events, like the date of a disaster, the amount of people who will die, the exact names of the people, the clothes they will wear, how the wreckage will exactly be, etc. In the scenario where god were to give them powers, how come god never goes all the way and gives them undisputable powers. It’s always things that anyone can do. There are always these stories too. These stories were something highly improbable happens and where the pastors attribute that improbability to their god. Always things you cannot disprove. For all you know, the pastor can be making the whole thing up. He can be lying to everyone, but with these miracle situation things, it’s a win win situation. Even if he is caught, he can just asked to be forgiven and play the “I was under the influence of the devil card” and retain his job. But why would anyone question him? The type of people that follow him rarely question people of his social position, assuming the fear of hell and the wrath of their god is enough to keep people like him from rising. They are the type of people that rarely question authority figures. Pastors know that as well. Let’s say you were at a magic show, and a magician comes up to you. He tells you that lately, you have been having issues with money and some family members. Than the magician comforts you that everything will be alright. This is not a church event. It’s a magic show. You know he has tricks up his sleeves, hence you will analyze the situation and realize what he is doing. Now apply this to church events. How are they different? They are not. It’s just that in church events, the environment, the people and people’s trust in testimonies and behavior that are non disprovable blind people from using the same critical thinking skills people apply to magicians. Even if he makes a false hit, do you really think people are going to speak up about how the pastor is a liar? Of course they will not. Everyone at the event is there to believe and strengthen their beliefs, and the whole belief system condemns blasphemy. The pastor knows this as well. All these predictions have a certain chance of hitting someone on target and if they don’t, the pastor has nothing to lose. Strengthening people’s faiths? What does the pastor have to gain from this? Like I mentioned before, it’s about the power. They assure the power of their fellow con men and increase their social position as well. It can also be about the money. They may aspire to be like Benny Hinn someday and make a fortune of the gullible. Contrary to what many believers believe, the fear of hell and the wrath of their god is not enough for charlatans to rise. Examples: 1) Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda managed to started his own cult that branches of Christianity. 2) Sun Myung Moon claims to be the second coming of Christ and the messiah. 3) Peter Popoff, a faith healer was exposed by James Randi. (Youtube this guy!) 4) Mother Teresa’s beatification was a fake. (Wikipedia) 5) Pat Robertson

I haven't read it either ... giant solid block of text hurts my eyes

Hurricane season is in the summer... lol But yeah you don't really have to worry about Orlando because it's completely landlocked so the storm surge won't affect that area. It was smart of Disney to chose Kissimmee for their location. They might get wind if the storm is really strong, but that's about it. Hurricanes are fun you should try it sometime! lol

Hey Tinkerbell, I think you were right about Adriana Lima. She is pretty

I KNOW! lol SHC and I are huge Adriana Lima fans we will convince anyone!

So when did you discover this? ... I'm curious since we had this conversation like 3 months ago. lol

It rained all last night and this morning here. I LOVE IT! One of the best smells is the smell of rain in the desert.

lol, I got the byproduct of hurricanes up north. Nice long blizzards that end up with 2-3 weeks of snow days. One year, some of the snow drifts were >4 (maybe 5) feet :D

I always thought it would be cool to experience a blizzard. I've seen small snow storms like one time I spent New Year's in DC, but nothing serious like an actual blizzard. It is frustrating when you can't leave your house though. If a hurricane is bad sometimes you can't leave for 2 days and then the electricity goes out and makes it even worse. lol I'm assuming that happens with blizzards too because the power lines freeze over right?

Yeah, and then your house drops to ~35 degrees :scared:

Can you burn wood in the fireplace during a blizzard? I don't know how these things work. haha I suppose it's just as bad as having water in your house. The only thing that truly scares me are earthquakes and tornadoes because they're unpredictable and you can't really do anything to get away. I guess I'll never be able to live in the mid-west!

I agree, hurricanes and blizzards... at least you can see them coming for the most part. Usually the power going out isn't a problem, but the last blizzard in Maryland put a lot of people out of power for a day or so. Fireplace could help, but not the fake gas kind. And I've heard they are really inefficient at heating a large room/house. Dunno for sure though.
