Missions lend themselves best to either educating local physicians about a treatment (based on the continued availability of resources) or a one stop surgical fix. Chronic pain is an ongoing issue that does not respond well long term to injections and opioids should never be promoted on missions. There is no "fix" for chronic pain nor do 3rd world countries have an ongoing supply of resources to maintain treatment of chronic pain. Therefore missions for chronic pain are not useful.
In addition there is no such thing as fibromyalgia when you are battling life and death on a daily basis. No need to prescribe aerobic activity to someone who needs to work 18 hours a day to provide for their family.
How about a pain management medical mission to the Wal-Mart one town over from where you live? Set-up a table outside with the words "Free Pain Management & Disability Evals." You'll be swarmed...
