Hi -
I am a 40 YR M, I have had 8 knee surgeries. I have seen specialist, both pain and orthopedic. I am at the point now where I can no longer have scope's done on my knees. Replacements will eventually happen, but not until I am 50.
I have tried a series of medications (injections, topical, NSAID, methadone, etc...). I am currently taking OPANA ER 40MG 2X per day. I have been on this medication for about 18 months, I find it to be a very effective medication. It's doesn't give me "euphoric" feeling some people experience with narcotics.
I have been reading up on a couple of the patches available, was looking to see if anyone had any experience with them (good or bad).
You may ask the question, if the OPANA ER is working, why change? I am 40 and realize I have another 10 years before I can have knee replacements. I would like to not have to rely on a strong narcotic for the next decade and see if someone else may have experience with a different medication.
I am a software engineer and believe there is always a better or different answer. Sometimes it takes talking to others to come up with a solution!
Many Thanks -
