Has anyone on SDN or know anyone who moved from pathology into hospital administration? The transition would be easy for someone who had an active role in managing the clinical and/or anatomic labs. Though my quick google searching did not yielded any pathology trained hospital CEOs or CMOs. It seems like a good option if clinical practice really takes a hit in the coming years. Thoughts?

Melinda Estes is a neuropathologist in hospital administration.

I would think you would need experience ( and a background to show that you can lead a hospital system financially) to become CEO of a hospital. Not sure how you would get that experience as a pathologist?

I would think it would be a pretty stressful job.

Hospital admins have less job security than pathologists. Frying pan into the fryer, IMO.

Do you want even less respect from other physicians or what? This would not be a good career move. It's a thankless job with a lot of stress.
