Well, there are still some programs that no one has posted about (which doesn't necessarily mean that they haven't interviewed but still) so I would say keep hope alive. There's still a lot of time left in interview season yet :)

Yea, I'd say we have about a month max to hear back from programs. After thanksgiving, I think we'll all have what we're going to have
 
Ya I have not been able to get a hold of BU either! Does anyone have a clear idea of how much tuition is? I keep getting different numbers, and is there a stipend in addition to that?!

I have an interview at Montefiore as well and never heard about any social event! PLEEEEEASE verify if there really is one and who to contact if there is one.

When I emailed the lady to confirm my date I asked if there was one (for travel planning reasons) and she said that there is and the chief resident would be contacting interviewees about it at a later date

You'll probably get more of a response to this after the Match on January 28th. It looks like the majority of people on here have established new accounts to remain anonymous during the interview process.

How many interviews are you planning on attending before canceling/declining invitations? Due to costs/schedule conflicts. Anyone hear any recommendations from people in the know?

I've heard that if you go to five or more then you have a good chance of matching, so I wouldn't start declining until at least that point. Honestly, if finances aren't an issue and you have received a ton of invitations, I would plan to go to around ten and then start declining your less preferred programs. Luckily, I haven't had any date conflicts and will be able to go to all of my invited interviews.
 
Any thoughts from those who are interviewing upon Boston, ny, nj this week?

Take a look at last year's official pedo match thread. SDN has a chronic problem - people take information, but they are loathe to provide it. A few brave souls stepped up with their info last year. I encourage this year's batch to do the same. The bigger the dataset, the more useful it is.

Yea I saw that but I wish more applicants and sdn users would post their stats!! I figured many people who are posting about receiving interviews would also check back on this forum and maybe post their stats......one can only hope so

Anybody going to Tufts this Friday 11/2? I'm wondering if the weather permits traveling up there yet.
 
I think flights have been cancelled up till Wed, Oct 31st, so Thursday and Friday should be safe days to travel.
 
Flying to Boston for tufts on Friday. Flights might be delayed but since there s no social the night before, we are safe. :)
 
For all you Lefties out there, make sure that the programs you are visiting can accommodate you. I've been to two LMC sites and neither one has respectable solutions to having a left handed operator, and could certainly not take on two lefties. Good luck, and hopefully you do not come across any further programs that discriminate.

Okay all you pedo fans, I need some advise....
Like all of you I have been traveling the country going to residencies and have a few to go. Today I received a message from a program director indicating that he may have a position opening for January that since I live and work in the area I would been strongly considered for. Here's the catch: I hate this area and was looking to move away when I went to residency and only applied here as a safety. Heck, I will not even date someone from this area for risk of having to come back here to visit inlaws. BUT if I take the position 1) I do not have to gamble and risk not matching (I am not a lucky person) 2) I would finish six months sooner 3) I would have a job to moonlight with if necessary.
So, what would you do?

I would say take the position as you can never rely on match.

I would take the position if the director offers it in WRITING. Don't stop interviewing until you have something in black and white.
 
If they took you that early and to start in January , I means that u r a very competitive applicant who would def match somewhere. I say do not take it, wait for better opportunities. You will math somewhere u ll be happier. Life is all about taking risks! They say Who risks nothing has nothing.
