Is steroid hormone produced in the smoothER while peptide hormone is produced in the roughER/free floating ribosomes in the cytosol?

I believe most steroid hormones are synthesized in the Mitochondria, while the precursors are produced in the SER. This is not something I can see being asked on the MCAT though.

You are correct about where peptide hormones are synthesized. I think I would mainly focus on ribosomes bound to the RER, as the hormones are likely to be processed and packages for exocytosis immediately.
