This is a continuation of a previous post. I’ve decided to make a new post for better clarity/visibility.
I will submit primary before spring grades are in. Final cGPA 3.71 sGPA 3.9 AO 3.16. These numbers are somewhat misleading because I have some terrible grades from 8-10 years ago bringing me down. For the last 100+ credits of my degree, I’ve been around 3.96 cGPA and 3.95 sGPA.
MCAT: PS 11 VR 13 BS 13 (37 composite)
- 114 hours emergency department volunteering
- 1 academic year of research (260 hours in the lab, many more at home). Presented a poster at 3 undergraduate level events. Undergraduate thesis. Contributing to an upcoming publication.
- 47 hours of shadowing (22 general surgery, 25 hospitalists)
- 7 years as pharmacy technician in a community pharmacy (worked less and less as education advanced. 20 hours --> 12 hours --> 8 hours per week) [thousands of hours total]
- 8 hours of community service with a charitable nutrition program that prepares and delivers meals to ill patients and their families (will continue to volunteer through gap year)
- Received highest biochemistry department honor at commencement. Nominated by department for highest undergraduate honor as well (did not win!)
- High altitude mountaineer (Summited Mt. Rainier, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo and more)
I am a re-applicant.
why are you a re-app?
Applied very late.
Where did apply last cycle?
Last cycle's list:
UVM
Umass
Quinnipiac
Commonwealth
Harvard
Dartmouth
Brown
Boston
Tufts
Albany
Georgetown
George Washington
Drexel
Yale

Univ. Rochester
What has changed?
Since last primary submission: +20 Emergency Department hours, +17 shadowing hours, all the research I described, continued to work ~8 hours per week up until a few weeks ago. 29 credits of 4.0. Degree completed (with award/nomination)
Why no community service? (Can you start now?)
I prioritized other things. I think I should have worked less, as it added little to my application past a certain point. I am starting now.
where's your IS?
University of Massachusetts
Where did you go to college (public/private, east/south/west/north)?
Northeast, public.
Here is my new list. I would greatly appreciate any opinions/suggestions. Thank you.
