PM&R: Salaries for Spine Fellowship trained PM&R docs?

Hey all,

There does not seem to be much salary info for PM&R docs who have completed an interventional Spine fellowship. I have heard numbers between $250kish to $1million? -ish per year.

Anybody here with any hard numbers or wish to add to the rumors?! ;-)

I know there are a number of future PM&R docs on here, please do tell what you know.

What exactly would an "interventional" PM&R spine doctor do?

Interventional physiatrists use a variety spine injection techniques and methods to relieve pain and improve musculoskeletal functioning. Some have added training in implantable technologies (baclofen pumps, dorsal column stimulators, etc). Such training requires substantial fellowship training beyond residency (usually at least two years).

The salary range for PM&R docs in general is usually considered a little better than average primary care salaries ($120-150K). Depending upon your payor mix salaries could be higher. Interventionalists usually make considerably more (upwards of $200K) but assume much more malpractice risk and liability.

if you go to montana you might get around 200K

the farther out you go, the more you get. you will get less paid copare to anesthesia by 10-20%.
