I'm currently waitlisted and have looked into the possibility of not getting in this cycle.

1) With my metrics: would this be a good list of revised schools to apply to?

Frank H. Netter MD SOM at Quinnipiac University - CT
Indiana University SOM
University of Nebraska COM
University of Missouri-Columbia SOM
EVMS
Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University
Penn State University COM
Creighton University SOM - Nebraska
Medical College of Wisconsin
George Washington SOM
VCU
University of Minnesota MS
The Commonwealth Medical College - PA
Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University
University of Tennessee Health Science Center COM
Temple University SOM
Drexel SOM
University of Kansas SOM
USF Health Morsani COM
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD SOM
East Tennessee State University
RWJMS
NJMS
DO School: Chicago, Penn

2) Should I take a year off or two years off? If I re-applied this cycle with the revised list, would I have a good shot of getting accepted somewhere? I've added more clinical experience over the past year.

3) Retaking the MCAT2015 - would a 34 (92-94th percentile) be equivalent to the 92-94th percentile on the new exam? (512-515, 128-129 in each of the sections). I spent 3 weeks studying for the old MCAT, am definitely confident I can do better.

Metrics:
-I have a cumulative GPA of 3.47 - will be ~3.48-3.50 upon graduation, and a science GPA of ~3.23, chem major, top 20 university
-My MCAT score is a 31 (12PS/10BS/9V). Felt good about physical science, verbal/bio I knew wasn't going to be as strong.
-Strong LORs.
-NJ state resident

ECs:
Research/shadowing:
-1000 hours of clinical research with 100 hours of shadowing under anesthesiology, 1 published manuscript as second author
-Pediatrics Clinical Research Assistant (50 hours, 2014)
-Starting cancer biology research for rest of semester-throughout this summer
-Added 50 hours of shadowing this fall semester 2014 - cardiologist

Volunteer:
-Non-profit health clinic volunteer (Fall 2014-present) 50 hours
-50 hours working with immigrant underserved population Fall 2014
- Jan2013-present, certified EMT volunteering (130 hours)
-40 hours of volunteering in low-income neighborhoods
-50 hours mentoring undergrad minorities

Work:
-250 hours spring internship 2015 with healthcare consulting company
-500 total hours this past year working at fitness center

Here' s a more realistic list. Your sGPA is not very competitive and the cGPA is below avg for MD schools. You're fine for ANY DO school

Your state schools
Frank H. Netter MD SOM at Quinnipiac University - CT
EVMS
Medical College of Wisconsin
VCU
The Commonwealth Medical College - PA
Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University
Temple University SOM
Drexel SOM
Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD SOM

Only if you take a SMP and ace it. No need to retake MCAT
2) Should I take a year off or two years off? If I re-applied this cycle with the revised list, would I have a good shot of getting accepted somewhere? I've added more clinical experience over the past year.

A high MCAT does not balance out a low GPA for MD schools.
3) Retaking the MCAT2015 - would a 34 (92-94th percentile) be equivalent to the 92-94th percentile on the new exam? (512-515, 128-129 in each of the sections). I spent 3 weeks studying for the old MCAT, am definitely confident I can do better.

If you get shut out, contact Admissions deans for feedback on rejections.

If you have MSAR, pay careful attention to the Acceptance Information tab. NOTE: state schools favor the home team, so one has to be above avg. for them if you're OOS.

How many of the schools on your list would be re-applications?
Add an asterisk, perhaps.

You have far too many OOS public schools on your list that would accept very few non residents with your stats-Indiana, Nebraska, Missouri, Georgia, Minnesota, Tennessee, Kansas, East Tennessee. Instead consider adding Oakland Beaumont, Hofstra, New York Medical College, Albany, Tulane, Rosalind Franklin, St. Louis, Rush and any new a private MD schools that open in 2016. Apply broadly to at least 10 DO schools and you should receive several DO interviews.
