Post May 15th questions

I have been accepted to in state school A, but would prefer to go to private $$$$chool B in which I am on the waitlist. Let's hypothetically assume I am accepted off of the waitlist into school B after May 15th. I would rather go to school B but would want to wait to see what the financial aid package is.

My question is..... If I hold acceptance to school A but am accepted to school B after May 15th, how long do I have to drop my spot from school A? Can I wait for the financial aid package? What if school A awards scholorships in late June, can I wait for them to decide on a scholorship?
