This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
are they meant to tell us only if we're accepted or either way? I haven't gotten anything yet.

I haven't heard anything either...and interview the 24th. Anyone hear anything?

...still haven't heard either.

And according to previous posts in this thread, it seems like they mostly only respond to those who were accepted.
Seems like those aren't accepted either hear back later or sometimes not at all... just what it seems like to me.

I haven't heard anything either! I am tempted to email them and see if they sent out acceptances yet. They said we would hear back on April 1! Did anyone else hear back yet?

Yeah, this wait is so annoying. If you do end up contacting them, can you share their response?

this is strange, seems so disorganized like everyone else said, if anyone has heard or contacted them please let us know! don't they know we need to find other things to do this summer! haha

Anyone hear anything?! I'm going to email them later today ill let you guys know what they say!

I called them yesterday and left a message with my contact information. I've been calling since then, and nobody has picked up.

Don't know what the deal is.

I'll assume a silent rejection. :(

Still haven't heard anything, let me know if any of you do.

I emailed them earlier today and got no response..... waiting... waiting.... waiting...

Did anyone hear anything? or should I just assume I was rejected :( ??!

I heard back yesterday. They emailed me saying I was put on a waitlist.
Did any one else hear back? Any one get in?

So I guess they sent out acceptances and they aren't sending out rejection emails. That's messed up.

Anyone get an interview for PHC summer 2013? Just got mine today

Yes I received mine earlier today. An earlier post in the thread said that around 300 people apply, 150 interview, and 50 are accepted. It also sounds like they favor upperclassmen relatively heavily, especially since they never explicitly ask for your GPA.This internship is basically exactly what I was looking for this summer but I agree with others that it is brutal that they make you pay for housing and don't even give you a stipend.

You may want to investigate at your undergraduate institution. Some schools will fund or award you credit for experiences like this. I know some people who did this my year were able to arrange this with their schools.

I have my interview for Project Healthcare this Sunday. I would be so thankful, if you could give me any tips and explain the 5 hour interview process. Also, do you remember the questions you were asked? THANKS!!!!!

Hello! I have an interview for Project Healthcare this Sunday. Would you do me a favor and let me know what you remember from your interview process please? What questions were you asked? And what did you do in the 5 hour interview period?

Hello dreamthinkdo,

my interview is tomorrow. Can you tell me more about what the interview process looks like and what kind of questions are asked. Are there many interviewers? How many candidates come in for each interview session?

Please let me know,

Thank you

Just received my acceptance e-mail. I am honestly very excited about this internship.

Does anyone know the exact start date? Or if they will be giving us special accommodations for housing? They never respond to any of my e-mails even though they encourage you to e-mail questions...not sure if I should just go ahead and sign up for housing at NYU independently.

Definitely had people my year get in off wait-list probably due to people getting better/paying summer gigs. I was accepted right-off but it might not hurt to send a letter of interest to indicate your enthusiasm. I can't see it hurting (assuming it is phrased properly).

(I love that this is an ongoing thread from 3-4 years ago :) )

That said, I think I'll kick off the 2014 batch of PHC applicant spazz-outs; I'm surprised there haven't been more before me! Any other 2014 PHC Applicants out there? (Especially since today we heard back about signing up for an interview! :) )

For the old PHCers/PHC Applicants, if y'all are still around: it seems as if in past years, there was a phone component and an in-person component to the interview process. The email I received today notifying me of interview options did not mention anything about a phone interview. Does that come after the in-person interview or has the process changed slightly?

I'm so excited :) Glad to hear that most people's experience with PHC is as awesome as the program sounds!

This program sounds pretty neat. I have no advice to give expect to point out some similar programs in NYC. Personally I did the the NYU HCOP program which sounds remarkably similar. The HCOP is a volunteer program lets you shadow specialists in a bunch of fields in Tisch or Bellevue hospitals. However it does seem like Project Healthcare is much more intensive, so perhaps it is the better alternative.

Also for anyone going to NYC or NYS public schools, consider applying for Downstate's summer programs. These are extremely well-coordinated and useful, plus they give you a $1500-3000 stipend! You get paid for shadowing and listening to lectures, it's great.

I received an interview invite, but am currently working abroad and have no way to attend. I emailed them to ask about a phone interview and they said they do not do off-site interviews under any circumstances, so I get the impression the interview day is the only portion. There's definitely no technological component, at least...could be a change to the process.

While this was obviously a huge disappointment for me since I have to forgo the opportunity, they did tell me that this year, they received more than 700 applications and invited only 120 to interview. So, for those of you who did get this far: congratulations, feel good about yourselves!

Best of luck to the rest of you at your interviews and I hope you get to take part in what seems like an incredible program!

@Underu , thanks for the suggestions! I wish I went to school in NY; the Downstate programs sound wonderful!

@doublehoo Awww, that's frustrating :( I noticed the strict interview requirement, which seems a bit excessive, but I suppose they just want to meet everyone in person...? Congrats on getting the interview, though, and hopefully you get another chance to do something like this another year! Also, those statistics are incredibly encouraging, thank you!

i have an interview tomorrow and i really don't know what to expect, if anyone can give me an idea of how it goes, it would be great! i'm really nervous since i'm just a freshman and i figure that they would prefer upperclassmen since they would have much more experience and stuff, so if anyone can give me a little info on what to expect, i'd greatly appreciate it, thanks! :)

Congrats to everyone who was accepted. I was placed on the "alternate list" / waiting list; has anyone ever been placed on the waiting list and eventually been accepted into the program?
Hey! I have just been placed on an alternate list for summer 2014. were you eventually aaccepted? any ideas/suggestions?

thanks a lot!!

anyone else hear back? i was put on an "alternate list." anyone from prior years have known any wait list success stories?

Is anyone else applying to PHC for 2015? I live in NYC. This program seems to be very good. I need more clinical experiences.
Do you guys know how long the CV should be. The website does not specify.

1 page is preferable, unless you're non-trad.

I just submitted my application today, which included my essay and CV. My CV was a little over a page but I am a non-science major as well.

I also submitted my application for Summer 2015. Do they send emails about interviews at the end of February?

The confirmation email I received did not not specify but I would assume that it is towards the end of the month since the deadline hasn't even passed yet.

I'm gonna guess end of February to the beginning of March is when they will send them out. The original deadline was January 15th (not sure if anyone caught that) and then back around thanksgiving I believe it was changed to February 1st as the deadline -.- So I'm assuming with this extension of the deadline, the wait for interview invites will go with it as well. However, I sent the director Laurent a few questions back in mid October about Project Healthcare, one of them asking when the interviews typically take place, and like I suspected she said that interviews take place around mid March during peoples spring break (my spring break is from March 13th - March 22nd) so with that in mind, they're going to have to be somewhat quick with getting back to us so that people can make proper travel arrangements. Also, if anyone was curious about the exact program dates Lauren said, "The program is 10 weeks in length, and it starts June 1st 2015 and ends August 7th 2015."

Does anyone know whether or not you have a choice in interview dates? From posters in previous years, it looks like the interviews are conducted from mid to late March. I may have a conflict the weekend of the 15th and am just wondering if I should back out of the possible conflict now just to be safe...

I applied...hopefully, will get an interview
I think you should understand if you have conflicts in your schedule

I would hope so, but would love it if someone from a previous year would chime in. The program has more than enough applicants for a limited number of spots so they certainly can afford to call the shots when it comes to interview dates if they want to,

From talking to previously accepted applicants into the program there always seems to be an interview on a sunday and then the next following saturday. Last year on sunday March 16th interviews were done, so I'm assuming probably sunday March 15th of this year there will be interviews and then again the next following saturday, the 21st. This is just speculation but its my best guess! I do know that for the past couple of years anyway there have always been more than one interview date! Where is everyone coming from? I hear a lot of applicants are from the new york area, I'm all the way in Alabama though haha.

Yes, it seems from previous years' posters that there tend to be at least two interview dates about one week apart. Hopefully you are given a choice between the two dates, provided you respond early enough, on a space available basis.

I'm not from the NY area either, so will have to fly in if I am lucky enough to be invited! Best of luck to you, DMC :)

I will have to fly in as well. My spring break is the first week of March so I am really hoping that if I get an interview, I can schedule it then. That way I could at least make a trip out of it haha.

13962Girl, thanks! Best of luck to you too :)

Mike2132, I am also trying to make my spring break trip out of this (if I get an interview) as well haha. I'll try and spend a week or so in NYC since I have never been, pretty cool way to spend your spring break in nyc if you ask me! Haha.

Does anyone have any idea what the weather is like in nyc during March? D:
