Does anybody know of any MPH programs with an emphasis or specialisation in mental health? I've only heard of JHU's MHS program. Thanks in advance.

USF has an MPH and an MSPH with a concentration in behavioral health through their dept of community and family health. I also know that at BU the curriculum will allow you to study mental health-related topics in the SBS concentration, but of course there's no degree there with a specific mental health concentration, as far as I know.

I'll post all the information I've found so far, in case anybody else is interested in this--what seems to be--obscure topic. I'll try to update it as I learn more too. (If there was a way I could do this without "bumping" the post, I would... sorry!)

John's Hopkins MHS in Mental Health: http://www.jhsph.edu/dept/mh/degrees/mhs/

Comments: 1 year program, comprehensive final paper, strong focuses in psychiatric epidemiology and drug abuse, sundry certificates available for free to full-time students

UPenn MPH in Public Health: http://www.publichealth.med.upenn.edu/

Comments: 2 year program, thesis required, no mental health concentration but provides access to the Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research, young program =? amenable to modifying the required curriculum

Have you tried the ASBH website (asbh.org)? I know there's a search engine under "member schools" (I think) and you can select your interests. Otherwise you may be able to look directly at the schools from that site and find some info. Also, try an professional organization like the American Mental Health Association too.

Anyone know much about JHU's MHS in Mental Health program? I am really interested in it but don't know as much about public health programs and the job opportunities with this type of degree since I was doing mostly psychology until recently. I haven't found much information about this program aside from the school's website, so anything would be helpful!

Hi! This is my area of interest and I applied everywhere that had a remotely related program. Granted, specifically I was looking at psych epi.

Emory has a mental health certificate. No matter what your concentration is, you can add on this certificate.
Washington University doesn't have a "concentration," but they have several people researching in this area and fellowship opportunities.
VCU has a cluster of research going on in this area.
U of Florida has a psych epi program for medical professionals and therefore several related courses you can take, as well as multiple faculty members doing related research.
Harvard has a neuropsychiatric epi concentration.
Columbia has several courses you can take in this area as well as a global mental health program and other related initiatives.
U of Pittsburgh has a psych epi concentration and partnerships with Western Psychiatric.

I have more info on all of these if you have questions.
