I am having trouble quantum numbers. For example, which of the following is a possible set of quantum numbers for a 3d electron?
(n,l,m sub l,m sub s)

Choices:

(a) 4,3,2,-1/2
(b) 3,1,1,+1/2
(c) 3,2,0,-1/2

Thanks

Choice C.
First number represents shell. Second represents subshelll s is 0 p is 1 d is 2, and so forth. Third represents the specific orbital and is a value between the negative and the positive value of the second number. if secod number is 2, third could be -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, representing the five d orbitals. Fourth number is either +(1/2) or -(1/2), simply indicating the spin direction of one of the two possible electrons in the orbital.
