Hi, on average, how long does it take for a patient with pneumonia to stop having fevers, if the antibiotic coverage is appropriate?

thank you

Who knows?
Depends on the patient's chemistry
What if the Pneumonia is viral? Hanta virus can last 3 weeks or longer.
What if it's fungal?
What if the patient is immunocompromised? has HIV? DM with uncontrolled sugars.

There are too many variables to answer this, it is truely patient dependent.

For a run-of the mill bacterial pneumonia patient, with no significant immunocompromise or comorbidity, the fever should break in about a day or two, assuming the antibiotic coverage is appropriate.

Agreed with the above post, the key to remember is that a patient who has adequate antibiotic coverage should start to get better relatively quickly. For example is your patient had a 103 temp, and a day later its a 105, you need to reconsider your diagnosis
