Hi! Im super confused about a question....Wondering how to treat a POSTPARTUM DVT?? Is it Heparin then switch to warfarin? Or do you keep the patient on LMWH? I thought you switched to Warfarin since the patient is not pregnant? Or is it because of breast feeding? Im so confused!
Thanks in advance!!

ya,warfarin is contraindicated in breast feeding women.other drugs c/i in lactating mothers are tetracycline n chloramphinicol

same way as you treat any body else who isnt pregnant. Heparin acutely, start coumadin and get therapuetic.

plenty of breast feeding moms take coumadin. it does not cross into the breast milk.
