Consulting seems to be an invaluable tool in terms of med school admissions. What separates your company from the many other consulting services available?

To follow on that, how can consulting make you a better applicant in terms of residency?

Sabio,

Thanks for the question.

Here are a few distinguishing characteristics.

1. Length of experience. We've been in business since 1994 and on the web since 1996 -- helping applicants gain acceptance to medical school for almost twenty years.
2. Breadth of experience on our staff. Interested in just getting your essays and experienced polished? We have consultants on staff who are published authors, PhD's in lit, and wordsmithing experts. They can help you present yourself at your best. Have a more complicated situation where you need advising, essay guidance and editing? We have on staff people with admissions experience for post-bac, med and residency programs.
3. While you work with one individual consultant who really gets to know you so that he or she can help present you at your best, that individual is backed by a team with the experience I just described. We also include random "2nd pair of eye checks" for a subset of your drafts at no extra charge.

It goes without saying that we couldn't be around this long if we didn't provide excellent service and quality to our clients, not to mention a track record of helping them get accepted.

Regards,
Linda

pandoraone,

Thanks for your question.

Professional writers have editors for a reason; amateurs, and most residency applicants are non-professional writers, need an editor even more. Writing benefits from a second pair of eyes and an experienced mentor pushing you to clarify points that are fuzzy, provide examples for generalities, and catch logical inconsistencies before your reader finds them. And of course, we fix stylistic, grammatical and spelling errors.

Your residency personal statement can benefit from all the above as well as your CV. We also provide interview prep for residency applicants.

Best,
Linda

does your company offer premeds assistance with writing essays for medical school/personal statements?

I'm interested in the medical school admission consulting. I'm wondering what kind of services do you offer and how much will that cost? In terms of AMCAS and secondary essay editing, how might your company help the applicant? How many revisions are allowed?

Hi coldtse888 and Hemorrage: thanks for your questions.
We offer a variety of AMCAS essay consulting and editing services. Briefly, here's how our services work:
1. Hourly editing. This is a great option if you've already written a draft. On an hourly basis, we review your essay (first focusing on structure/content, and then a second time for grammar, style, flow, character count, etc). The hourly rate is $270, and we also offer discounted packages of 5 and 10 hours (a flexible option if you need help with multiple parts of the application-- such as the activities section, etc).
2. Initial Essay Package. This is a flat rate package that includes comprehensive strategy, outlining, and editing for one essay. We start with a strategy call and then help you craft an outline for your essay. After that, we work with you to edit your essay until it's ready to submit. (The package includes as many edits as you need to make your essay shine.) The rate is $920.
3. The AMCAS Comprehensive Package. Like the Initial Essay Package, but also includes your work/activities section. The rate is $1840. (Again, as many edits as you need.)
4. The Premium AMCAS and Secondary package. Includes the AMCAS Comprehensive package and flat-rate strategy/editing for your secondary essays. The rate is $4875.

We also offer packages covering secondary essays and interview prep, and AMCAS/MD PhD applications.

You can find a complete catalog of our medical services at http://www.accepted.com/services/medicalservices.aspx

Kingking,

While we offer all the services you listed, the raffle prize is one hour of consulting/editing.

Thanks for your interest.

Linda

Do you have any statistics showing the percentage of students accepted to medical school using your company?
