Now you're a real vet studentWelp, officially in debt! It felt good to return the extra money I don't need, though.

What is this boxed dinner thing you speak of? I'm worried about my eating habits once I start school because although I love to cook, I will not touch the kitchen if I am tired because I can't think of anything to cook and trying to come up with something is exhausting. This seems like it could be a good idea for me.View attachment 195872View attachment 195873View attachment 195874
I've been kind of hooked on those boxed dinner ingredients shipping thing, and I love it! Not the most original recipes, and not the cheapest at $11-12/meal, but I eat much healthier and varied meals with it. It like totally takes out the thinking and shopping which is the biggest barrier to get me cooking.
There's a few different companies that do it. One is called Blue Apron, and I've heard very good things! What is this boxed dinner thing you speak of? during 4th year and now, i tend to cook once a week and make 4-5 meals out of one thing so that i have good food to eat but its not too time consuming. crockpot and oven things mostlyWhat is this boxed dinner thing you speak of? Plated, Hellofresh, and Blue Apron are the three companies that do them. What is this boxed dinner thing you speak of? I've been thinking about getting hello fresh. Why do you feel it's environmentally unfriendly?Plated, Hellofresh, and Blue Apron are the three companies that do them.
I use Hellofresh and I've been really happy with them. It's 3 meals for 2 with enough ingredients for exact portions for $69 including shipping. Meals are filling and tend to be around 500-600 kcal per plate. It is most definitely environmentally unfriendly, and that makes me feel bad... But not enough to stop me.
Lots of boxes (styrofoam on hot days) with disposable ice packs, and fuel associated with shipping individual portions. So much material wastage, though admittedly way less food wastage on my part when I use these boxes.I've been thinking about getting hello fresh. Why do you feel it's environmentally unfriendly?
Cool, thanks. I'll definitely look into it. Your pictures looked delicious!Plated, Hellofresh, and Blue Apron are the three companies that do them.

I shoulda posted this on Mon. Apparently for a day, I had the opportunity to refer emails to 4 people and they would have gotten a free box each!A week ago those fresh direct coupons were all over my FB feed... now I'm ready to give it a try and I can't find a single one!

God Eater: For people who enjoyed the gore and emotional despair of Shingeki no Kyojin and wanted to experience it with all new characters and more T and A.
Episode 4 has feels. Stein's Gate, Aldnoah.Zero and Ao no Exorcist are worth looks too. Though Stein's Gate will leave you as a blubbering baby on the floor, so consider yourself warned.Thank you for this anime suggestion, because I'm now watching it. I can always use more anime in my life! We always seem to have the same taste!
I shouldn't have looked....This post on Veterinary Team Brief's FB page has me verrrry distracted right now....

Cliff notes version:Now I have to look...
Cliff notes version:
They post: Should we open more vet and vet tech schools?
Prospective students: yes but just because we want to get in somewhere.
Older mixed practice vets: yes, but only if they produce vets that aren't afraid of hard work and don't believe in vacation.
Current vets: mix of no and maybe because there are "shortages"
But guyzzzz!! We totes need more schools cuz like, my in state school is SO MEAN and won't let me in even tho I've wanted to be a vet since like FOREVER! And can we build a school like right by my house cause moving is so inconvenient and I shouldn't have to do it.
All schools should be cheaper or all vets/techs/assistants should be paid more. Now just to get schools and the general public on board.I found it to be an interesting point where people are calling for higher pay for techs because of school costs...how is that different than vets graduating with debt? Maybe I'm way off.
I was mostly perplexed by the one who seemed to be complaining that a lot of people were from the GTA and so Niagara/Hamilton/Burlington needed another school? I really couldn't parse what he was on about..."Yes... 12 spots for half of Canada is ridiculous and over 500 applicants not to mention Canada is in desperate need for large animal surgeons."
What is she even talking about? 12 spots?
LA surgery residents at WCVM certainly don't think there's a need.

I'll admit I've been a little confused about whether UCVM was needed too, but at least it's not gouging students like some of the recent US schools. Most of my worry is a gut reaction at what's happening in the USA and I don't want to see the job market tank here too.
I (re)watched this series last fall semester. Only took me 2 months...Finally finished Gilmore Girls on Netflix (took me about 9 months).
If I didn't fall asleep after one episode, I probably would have finished it much sooner!I (re)watched this series last fall semester. Only took me 2 months...
Binge failIf I didn't fall asleep after one episode, I probably would have finished it much sooner!
Right?! Something about only having time to watch it when I got home from work at 10PM, lol. However, I did plow through 2 seasons in a week or two once I quit my job. So now I know better than to have a job when there's Netflix to be watched.Binge fail

Really, I only need to see that last perk...From a job classifieds ad:

The senior clinician in charge of reviewing our discharges and dividing up that task used to be and English professor she loves to edit the heck out of our stuff haha (it's always way after the fact though)So, yesterday my internmates and I got reamed out for having incorrect spelling and grammar in our discharge instructions. Today's my day off, but I'm going in for teaching rounds. Is it passive-aggressive to show up in this tee shirt?

Or merely hilarious?
Make your own! I got wood from Home Depot and an old surgery towel and folded it over a couple times to make an "incision." I also have old tubing for a "pedicle." It's worked great for two years!Does anyone have a recommendation for a practice suture board/kit? I've been looking around for one and I don't want one that falls apart after being sutured a few times.
OK, I'm glad to hear that fabric actually works pretty well. I bought one for $8 off of a third year who makes them, but I started to worry that the more realistic ones would be better. I've seen people use chicken legs, which allows you to suture different layers. Of course this is also minimal use for suturing, but then, assuming you eat meat, you can cook it and eat it.Does anyone have a recommendation for a practice suture board/kit?
