So sad :( Even if she should have been fully aware the tiger could approach her, there's no way to say where her head was at in that moment. It very well could still have been a mistake.
Agreed. Really heartbreaking. People are commenting on news reports wondering if she was committing suicide, I hope that's not what was going on :(

Actual conversation at work:
Tech: What were to happen if a human took propofol?
Me: Michael Jackson.
Tech:...Oh right....

(I know it has legitimate medical uses, but that answer just fell out of me before I could stop it.)
There was a tech that used to abuse it. Would take leftovers from syringes and inject herself. It didn't end well.

But when used appropriately, it's pretty great for various things.

I don't understand what one gets out of propofol.

Like opioids, ketamine, maybe even benzos, yeah I get that... But propofol?

Oh no :( Some of us suspected an employee was abusing tramadol when she bought several hundred pills in one month, then bought another several hundred a month or so later. Hard situation to deal with for sure. Sorry to hear that it ended badly for the tech.

Apparently if you get to the point just before passing out it can get you very euphoric. Having had propofol on several occasions, I have not found that to be the case.

Got super distracted and went down an internet rabbit hole and ended up finding my childhood home on Zillow. Whoever lived in it last did a pretty good job remodeling.

Your post inspired me to look up my childhood home (from age 1-8) in new jersery and it's in "pre-forclosure"/default on loans... :( Now I'm sad.

I'm glad the more recent families took good care of the house. I grew up in the panhandle of Florida where you had a really interesting mix of people. The houses my neighborhood friends were in look really bad now. I do miss it there, but looking at these pictures I remember why my dad spent hours each week maintaining our lawn. That 'soil' wasn't good for anything but palm trees, haha. I can't creep into my grandpa's or friends houses :mad:

I am sitting in my childhood home right now.... my parents moved into this house when I was 3 years old, so 25 years ago.
I think we would have stayed in FL if it weren't for my dad's job transferring him all over. Kind of weird, I guess I can't imagine staying in that house anymore. Probably because I just saw it looking completely different. I went and looked at pictures of my grade school and had flashbacks. Currently cruising my old stomping grounds with Google Earth.

:help:

Yeah, we still drive by my grandma's old house on occasion, I can still remember quite a bit about that house. And my dad reminisces about his time there and the neighborhood. It is fun to remember old times sometimes. :)

It is, I love it. Although I'm a bit frustrated to find that my friend's memorial is no longer there...:(

If I ever end up driving down there again, I definitely want to pass through. You can't beat the seafood in Pensacola, that's for sure.

I recently played that game with google earth and found where my grandmother's old trailer used to sit. The lot has been empty since she moved. She had a huuuugggeeee garden that is completely overgrown and kinda depressing now, it yielded so much food in its prime.

It's a strange idea to me that some people still have their childhood home. We moved apts at least seven times and quite literally across north america... there definitely isnt one particular building I would call home.

Looks like the people who bought my old house 12 years ago still have it and have kept the outside nice at least (depends on how old the Google maps street view images are). We've now been at our current house 2 years longer than we were at that one.

It looks like those baby rabbits I found in my garden a few days ago are still being tended by the mom. They're alive at least, which is pretty much the best case scenario.

Isn't that what people say about asphyxiation?

Geez, people should just go back to huffing markers in a brown paper bag like the good ole days.

i mean, I guess you have to be really desperate to abuse that?

They also found a tech stealing hydro at school one year.

My cat wakes me up in the morning. It is really cute, at first. She curls up next to me and stares, then the purring starts. And then like a ninja, she wraps those fuzzy gray paws around my arm and bites me. :bored:

I love propofol... I get it when I get my epidurals. It makes me feel amazing. I could totally see why people are addicted to it...

I also like midazolam. Mmmmmm

all you. I hate midaz. hate hate hate.

The only one I hate is hydromorphone... It makes me projectile vomit even with anti-emetics on board.

Midazolam is great! Mmmmhmmmm

I'm ever so slightly torn between being mildly jealous that you guys know how the drugs you use feel and thankful that I am healthy enough/not injury prone enough to need to.

it's not as much fun as you think?

I think you should just focus on the thankful part :)

What pet store has $7000 in donation funds for Girl Scouts!?

The article says the $7000 included money from the jar. Otherwise I would have been really impressed. Also, "The porn shop is next door to the Oregon State Police’s Albany office." Location, location, location :p

Got super distracted and went down an internet rabbit hole and ended up finding my childhood home on Zillow. Whoever lived in it last did a pretty good job remodeling.
I lived in the same house until I was 18, and then we moved after I graduated high school. It took about 2 years for the house to sell, but I've driven by a couple times in the past year and whoever lives there now has really fixed up the outside. New fence, fancy new front door and garage door, they added shutters to the windows, really nice landscaping, etc. I'm curious what it looks like on the inside. I just looked at it on Zillow and there are still pictures from 6 years ago before we moved out (including one of my bedroom with the bed unmade. Our first realtor was so terrible), and then more from after we moved out and had some company redecorate the place and rent it out so it would sell better. They did a really nice job, although it was weird to see my room re-done as a little boy's room. :( I really miss that house sometimes, but my parents' current house is really nice too.

My old room has a bed and a treadmill now. I forgot how small they were, I can't imagine use having stayed there now. I was 11 when we had to moved into my Grandpa's I think. Our Michigan home definitely has more space for everyone (and the pets I keep bringing around...). The house isn't even for sale, so I'm not sure why there are still pictures of the inside on the website. It was nice to see though, they really did a good job with the bathrooms.

My childhood home had to be condemned because we lived in a flood plain and they discovered there was a sinkhole directly under us. It was interesting because they didn't find it until we moved out, but you could see the roof and the walls forming cracks because the ground was uneven from part of it sinking. The house, or double wide rather, is still there and they say one day it will eventually split in half. Apparently water got really high in there during the last flood, so I'm glad no one was living in it. Parents only moved 15 min away to a subdivision so last summer I actually drove out to our old street. The house had weeds/shrubs coming out of the windows! Sad but interesting at the same time.

Oh wow, that'd would fuel a lifetime of nightmare for me. I still have occasional nightmares about the I10 bridge we took every single day to get to school. Part of it was obliterated during hurricane Ivan. I do miss seeing dolphins and huge fish on the way to school, don't miss how far my mom had to drive us. Also, the fact that I've always had a fear of longer bridges wasn't fun.

My childhood house is still owned by the people that we sold it to when we moved out. That means that they have officially lived in it longer than my family did!

I'm already forgetting who everyone is on fb :arghh:

After adding probably around 10 from here and the 60 from my class's facebook page, I just assume someone is a vet person if I see someone I don't recognize....

It's a strange idea to me that some people still have their childhood home. We moved apts at least seven times and quite literally across north america... there definitely isnt one particular building I would call home.

My grandparents are still living in the house my mom grew up in. So it's been 45 years for them. My mom doesn't even remember their first house, so she basically just remembers this one. And then we were partly raised in it. My sister wants to keep it in the family if my grandparents die.

Wth with the pet store thing! Who steals from their own wife?! And who the heck keeps $7,000 in the store?! We always took the cash straight to the bank if we had that big of a sale/the big of a day.

My main childhood home was #4 of 14 homes burned by an arsonist. We were not in it at the time. My parents rebuilt it. And the guy is in jail now! Craziness. They are soon going to be selling it though.

When you are at a family event and family starts introducing you to neighbors/people you don't know as a veterinarian... And instantly the questions about animals start rolling in....

I browse craigslist daily (and by craigslist I mean just the pet section :p), and I just came upon a listing asking for vet bill donations. The dog in question...is an OLD (15 years!) chihuahua, who has: "Liver Cancer and possibly something to do with her spleen [...] heart failure [...] a huge mass in her stomach and her liver isn't where it should be [...] You can feel her bones and her spine is popping out [...] a lump in her throat. She doesn't eat much because of that. She walks very off balance."

...I'm sorry, but it is time to let go. This dog has lived a really long life and clearly her QOL is now suffering severely, she even looks sullen in the photos (and yes, has a huge stomach mass). I hope one of the vets has discussed this with the OP (likely they already have and OP is just in denial/unwilling to let go, no way to know). Hope the poor dog can get relief either way the situation goes :(

Poor pup :(

Holy crap did PT kill me this morning. My arms are so tired/little sore (good sore, not like pain) that drinking water is slightly difficult. And only one more week of sessions and then I am done!
