I have a dozen records to still write at the end of the day. Ugh... So there's that.

Paperwork, it never ends. Anytime you think you are done, you remember something else to be written or it is the next day and new patients are there.

My roommate does not like my puppy. I asked her to take care of him while I'm on nights. The first night I came home to his kennel and bowls covered in poop. He never poops in his kennel unless he's sick which he wasn't. The second night she said he tried to bite her. I immediately found someone else to watch him. She made sure to tell me again that she doesn't want to watch him although this time she said he bit her. She's making it out like he's a horrible dog who's aggressive and I feel awful. He's a puppy he's never ever tried to bite anyone maliciously. He does try to jump at his leash so he has something to carry in his mouth while he walks. I'm working on this habit. The person who watched him last week reassured me that he's a great dog but he's a high energy puppy. He was just trying to play. I'm very thankful I have enough people who like Zaius that I can find someone to care for him while I'm on nights.

I also don't think she understands that I own the place where we live and she's a tenant. She's taken over most of the counter space and cabinets and isn't nice to Zay even before this incidence. Only two months...

Holy crap, seriously?
yeah. I'm pretty sure. started with an upper resp disease at 7 weeks - now 17 weeks old and still has mild resp disease. Dog is somewhat ataxic and circling to the left. hyperkeratosis of the nose is present. Sent out titers today.

I was coming here to complain about my three appointment internal medicine day... I'll just be quiet over here, haha.
Internal med consults as a student take a huge amount of time. Or at least they did at AVC. By the time you assess the patient, talk to the doctors, get grilled on ddx, formulate a plan, organize all the various departments, etc, it can easily run 3 hours+. So complain away.

Board-certified radiologists of the world: What's the deal with your ambivalent "Eh.... might be this, not really sure, correlate to clinical signs" answers. I'm a flippin' x-ray hack. I look for metal-opacity objects with a sign that says "**FB HERE**". I expect a more nuanced interpretation from you specialists. Get it together.

My favorite example was reading a consult report for a dog that included "prostatomegaly".... in a female dog. C'mon man.

Me: huh, I think your dog's heart looks a little large to me, and these vessels may or may not mean something. Let's see what the radiologists say about this.

Rad consult says nothing about heart at all... I think I even put something in the comments

Hehe. I can admit to having written "prostate normal" in my PE on a female dog once. Sometimes you just get on autopilot with your 'normal' findings, and as a student we weren't allowed to use WNL (etc). I still try to write more than just WNL unless I'm just super busy, but......

Only vet in the clinic since noon. Excuse me while I juggle three exam rooms while unblocking a half dead cat, dealing with a rabies suspect, and finishing up the surgery that never got done this morning. It's 7:30 and I still haven't eaten lunch.
Dear staff- if you tell me one more time that so and so is dropping off a fecal and waiting for results, I'll scream. Send them home dammit because it's going to be a while. Same goes for people who call with questions - they can leave a message and I'll deal with them later.

Shoulder specialist doesn't think the pain is coming from my shoulder--think it's referred pain from my neck. Can't get an app't with the spine doc for 2 weeks and need to take time off clinics to go (hopefully they approve it). In addition to the shoulder pain, now I have numbness/tingling in my fingers. Blech. No time for this crap.

My very first patient of clinics had to be euthanized today... she was 7 months old.

My between services consult today also was euthanized... she was 4 years old.

Sucks. :(

Twisted my ankle right before starting a 2 mile hike today. Still hiked it. Was a bad decision.

Sometimes, I don't know why I bother wasting my time arguing ethics with a person I firmly believe has none - at least none of a consistent variety.

I . . . hate . . . periods

Spent several hours making fancy fun cookies to take to friends tomorrow. They are drying on the counter, and youngest brother stole FOUR of them. So mad!! He absolutely knows better, and this is not his first offence. My parents are all oh well, hes a kid and they're cookies (but if this was something my mom made, she'd be furious). Particularly annoyed because he stole one of my favorites. Grrrrrr.

My paper got rejected from JAVMA :( I guess winning a national award isn't good enough for them?

Holy crap, that is the worst. I made sloth cookies a couple weeks ago as a going-away present for my job and my roomie stole one of my favourites as they were drying on the counter. I about shot her, and then directed her to the pile of screw-ups (that would have tasted just as good...) off to the side. At least your brother is a kid and has a teeny excuse!

Additional rant: fell immediately asleep and didn't set my alarm last night. Still woke up at 4:30 for pickups. I really hate internal med's morning hours...

You know, I understand that you're paid to go door to door to put up fliers. I get that. However, it is entirely rude and unprofessional to walk through people's yards and flower beds while doing so. It is even worse when you totally blow off a potential customer when they ask you not to walk through people's yards. Yeah, that was a bad move. Thanks to the fliers you left on my front door, I called both companies to let them know you have complete disregard for other people's property. Thankfully, both women were equally appalled at your behavior and will be calling your boss. Next time, don't mess with my Dad's yard, my Mom's flower bed, and my Grandma's flower bed, since she lives a few blocks down. Not to mention all the people trying to sell their homes right now.

My brother/roommate is a dick. He hasn't been on the lease for the last two years (of the five years he's lived with me). He could have moved out at any time during that period (his name is on none of the utilities). He didn't. Now that I've chosen not to renew the lease and I'm looking for a new place to live (largely because the space is too cramped), suddenly a fire is lit under his ass and he wants to live alone.

Well, now it's not financially convenient for me to live alone, so I've offered him the choice of continuing to live together and getting a townhouse, which is literally twice the space we live in now. Nope. As usual, he took advantage of me. I let him live with me when living alone was financially inconvenient for him, going back to school and moving back to Columbus from Seattle, but he can't do the same for me. I hope he understands that I'm not letting him live with me ever again, which includes the very likely situation that he's not going to find his own apartment before we have to be out on August 5th. He thinks he's going to find a place under $500 in our current area over the next few weeks. He doesn't get it that the off-campus renting season began last December and cheap studios and 1 bedrooms are already rented.

Cancelling satellite TV is a nightmare. I'm moving. I will make barely enough to live on as an intern. I cannot afford luxuries like Dish any more, even if you promise me a much lower price (which coincidentally wasn't possible to do last year when you jacked my rates up and I tried to get them back down). Now send me the dumb boxes to mail you back my crap. Preferably make said boxes arrive before I move halfway across the country. Ugh, so frustrated.

Dish and DirectTV are really scummy companies. I don't trust them. Really like AT&T- they always make everything right when a screw up happens.

Some time last night my cat must have gotten outside and I have no idea where she is. Neighbors haven't seen her. She's so timid that she's probably hiding under someone's deck or something. I am worried sick. I have food out on the doorstep and I'm sitting here with the door open. Though I suspect if she does come back it won't be until dark.
I just want my girl back.

I'm sorry, hope she comes back soon. There are pet amber alert systems. You pay them around $20-50 and they can get information on people's phone numbers in the area as well as vets and shelters and they start calling everyone for you.

I went back to work today after having anaphylaxis on Thursday....yeah, way too soon.

Glad the benadryl kicked in before we had to call 911 for throat swelling again

:( I hope she comes back soon. We had a scare like that with one of mine a few years ago, thankfully she was just hiding in the shrubs right near the front door.

Hope she comes home safe! Is there a blanket or something special of hers you can lay out?

Personal rant, in three weeks I get to spend a whole day rubbing elbows with a gaggle of bridesmaids. I'm an usher for the wedding, not a bridesmaid, I don't know any of them well, and it was hella awkward at the shower sitting with all of them. Plus that means I have to find somewhere or something to entertain the BF for 6 hours. Me and my sister are gonna end up watching them drink mimosas all day.
Do it for the bride I say, and do it for your brother.

Sister of the groom and you're not a bridesmaid? Was that by your choice?

I would have rather been a groomsmen to be honest. I don't know the bride well enough to even begin to feel comfortable standing up next to her. I like her to death, and I can tell that her and my brother are fantastic together and truly love each other (they dated for 6 years, through HS and college). So I think her making my sister and I ushers and including us in the bridesmaids festivities is her trying to make up for us not being bridesmaids, and I appreciate the sentiment, but I personally don't think it's necessary.

Ah I see, that makes sense.

Can you put some stinky fish outside to help? That worked once for me when one of my cats went missing.

I hope I get to be my brother's best man if he ever gets married. That would be awesome.
My brother's doing Justice League theme, so I was really hoping to be Iron Man or something xD
