I'm also the case where I reapplied to only DO schools after not having any luck with MD schools last year. You still have time to hear back from schools for interview invites for this cycle - remember most of them still interview toward March/April so don't completely lose hope yet.

Personally what i did during my gap year was:
1. Work at a hospital as a clinical research intern (mainly on administrative side) and got a pretty good pay
2. Shadowed 3 DO doctors and obtain an LOR from one

I think you will have better chances with DO schools next year if you do decide to reapply. You have really strong GPAs. I would say focus on shadowing DO physicians, maybe some non-clinical volunteering, and really think of ways to respond to why DO? from your experiences. Especially when you prepare for personal statement the 2nd time around, I would say emphasize somewhere why you decide to apply to only DOs.

Hope that helps!
