I'm looking to write up a multiple case series (3 cases), and I was wondering if there is a ballpark length I should shoot for, how I should split up the work amongst trainees, etc. I'm guessing 1 resident and 1 fellow will be involved. The topic area has a low prevelance rate and I think there is room to contribute to the existing (but sparse) body of literature. Any another recs/tidbits would also be welcome.

Well, the busy-body that I am today...here's something that might be helpful. The psychoanalytic literature is always crawling with case study examples (how else would we learn?!? Just Joking - that was a modest jab at my own expense). I like this article because it is a little bit of your expertise, and a little bit of mine. Interestingly, the authors wrote up the clinical description in the results section, rather than intro. I think the article is laid out nicely.

Here's another one with 3 case studies for length suggestions: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7846265

Hope it helps, at the very least, to spark some ideas. Good luck! :luck:

Look at the journals you are targeting and follow their guidelines for a case study.
