How important are reference letters generally? I was able to see one of mine, and it had a spelling error and a typo. Sigh.

Will this seriously impact on my application?

Don't worry. I know someone who used to be on the admissions committee at Penn. He said that letters of rec aren't read THAT carefully (but they are read). Don't worry about someone else's spelling error...remember, it's not YOURS! And even if it were, it's not going to impact your application that much.

I saw your post on the PR website. This place is much better isn't it?

The reference letter is one of the most important items in an application.

The content matters. The punctuation does not matter at all... that doesn't reflect on you!

Phew! I was *so* worried that all my efforts were down the tube due to spellos in my reference letters! That's relieving -- thanks!

Yes, this board is much better than PR. None of the immaturity that downgrades the conversation so! I would probably have gotten very negative responses to my questions on the PR forum.

Thanks to the maintainer!
