I applied to the match this year, unfortunately personal circumstances have changed to the extent that I won't be able to compete in the match until 2016.

what's the most polite way of sending an email to a programme I really want to IV at next year to reject their offer of an IV this year. Don't want to burn my bridges.

Maybe I'm over thinking this?
thanks

You're over thinking this.

A simple response stating, "thank you for the invitation to interview at Program X on <insert date>. Unfortunately I will not be able to accept your offer at this time as I am withdrawing from the NRMP with a plan to reapply next year.
