If doing a dental residency, especially a 6-year OMFS track ... when do you guys apply for a state dental license? According to most state's dental boards, the clinical exams (NERB, WERB) are only active for 5 years ... some states 3 years!!! And licensure by credentials only applies with full time employment for ~ 5 years. Also - it seems that residency does not count for licensure by credential.

I don't mind obtaining a license during residency - except the annual fees and CE credits could be both expensive and time consuming during ... say ... your gen surg year.

And ... of course ... I still don't know where I want to practice. haha.

Yeah, put it off as much as you can. As you'll be enrolled in a residency program, you most likely won't need to worry about CE credits, but the fees are tough on a resident salary, especially if you're not allowed to moonlight.
